The elephant in the room question for Aggies today is "how many wins does Sumlin need this year for you to be able to stomach a 7 or 8 win season next year" but I already answered that question for myself months ago. Ten wins.
Yep. The magic number for this year, knowing that we'll be a 7 or 8 win team at best next year, is 10. If Sumlin wins 10 this year, then, given that the expectation among the media and fans is a rough 2017 season, he'll survive it and be our coach in 2018. If not then we'll have a meh season followed by a bad season and it could be shaky ground.

Because they looked good against an ole miss team that played a horrible game ?

At least an obvious replacement for Sumlin became clear yesterday if next year is a disaster.
I can't even tell you how happy I am that SMU won. That means we have Chad Morris should Sumlin choke which means our program won't fall into the abyss by not having an option at coach (like what happened to UTx when they had to hire Charlie).

Because they and Alabama are the two teams on our schedule who can flat out-physical us. We have already played the one team that is roughly even with us in that respect (at the time, now they're a hospital ward) - Tennessee - and went to OT with them.

Sarge, Myles Garrett doesn't make our defense and he has very capable backups.
He does make a huge overall impact on the ability of our defense when he is in the game and healthy. He alone does indeed transform it from "meh" to "good". To say otherwise is to display utter retardation when it comes to football.

If we can get him healthy by LSU, I really like our chances at 11-1

I think it changes our chances a lot. Anyone underestimating his impact needs to watch last year's Super Bowl, which was dominated by one player: Von Miller. So yes, a single player can a game make. The rest of the Broncos defenders were definitely not chopped liver, but anyone who thinks they could just sub in another pass rushing LB and have the same result is smoking crack. Myles has a similar impact for us. His pass rush when healthy takes our backs from pretty good to amazing. His ability to stretch a running play to the sideline when he can run takes our LBers from bad to pretty decent. Him demanding triple teams when healthy takes our other DLmen and interior LB from desperate and drowning to commanding.

Bama coaches are smart
Glad we know and can fix it before any more games

I'm much more concerned with the fact that someone who calls himself "Run Away Train" on Twitter is using my darn Avi

There's a similar thing out there about how we blitz. Our team isn't very good at hiding what they intend to do.
It's all small stuff that hopefully gets fixed. I think Turner can fix this. Fixing it on the defensive side is a bit harder.

I hate to say it, but you can start to see the tailspin coming. We haven't played well for more than 4-5 minute bursts since the second half of the Arkansas game.

Please don't troll the board

Roger, I regret to admit it but I was thinking the same thing. I don't know about tailspin but we just aren't dominating like we should. I know part of it is us working on things we need to work on, but it's frustrating to not see us able to pass at will on these guys.

Knight is extremely inconsistent as a thrower and isn't going to change. It is what it is. They obviously want to work on it though and will continue to.

Then dang it we need to be working on becoming invincible at the run then

Now I'm wondering if we win out, can we sneak into the top 4?

From #9 to #7 by beating New Mexico State.
