Yeah, he obviously doesn't give a frick about his public image, so why should I?

Maybe one day he'll grow up.

Just not going to hold my breath.

Comparing Vince to Ryan Leaf is pretty ridiculous. Vince won Rookie of the Year and made two different pro bowls before poor decision making and Jeff Fisher (who I'm worried will do the same with Gurley) derailed his career. Russell was the #1 pick who never did anything, so he's in play, but I think Leaf is the clear number one bust

Fisher didn't kill Young's career and neither did Young's attitude, though it certainly didn't help. Truth is, his accuracy was erratic and he wasn't smart enough to learn a full playbook and read defenses.

As for Manziel, this was pretty freaking stupid. In a vacuum, going to a club on a bye week isn't a big deal, but this wasn't a vacuum. He knew Pettine didn't like him, he knew that the team hated his Broadway Joe-like image, he knew that they had zero patience for him partying after his booze-soaked rookie season (his decision to go to rehab was probably made under pressure from the team), and he knew that his hold on the starting gig was tenuous at best.

That's kind of the story of Johnny. He never does anything that's wrong, but he repeatedly walks right up to the line of his employers' expectations and then sticks his toe across.

Exactly. You don't have to defend the kid just because he is an Aggie. Ofcourse thanks for what you did here but act a fool get treated like a fool, like the policy of this board, right? Most LSU fans will be the first to tell you how stupid Jamarcus is and the short cut Laron Landry. You have to respect yourself before you seek respect from others.

He is. Clown coach. Clown organization. Look at what Hardy gets away with in Dallas.

This was never gonna work for either side from jump street because both sides make things hard on themselves through poor decision making.

Pettine doesn't coach for any team I care anything about and hopefully never will, but I can't blame him for this mess. All the previous examples of cutups mentioned here (Gronkowski, Stabler, Namath, etc.) were established starters and stars, not young guys trying to make the lineup. And none of them admitted themselves to alcohol-abuse treatment programs.

I think he's likely done in Cleveland. He could probably make it on a team of reprobates like the Cowboys. Maybe.

So reports are coming out now that Johnny lied to the Browns about partying and even called his friends to try to get them to lie for him to, implying he was told not to do it and he knew the consequences. Therefore, he's a dumbass and it's his own fault for losing the job.

Dilfer kind of just slammed the way A&M handled Manziel, saying he didn't face any consequences in college for his action. Is that just ESPN talking head crap, or is there more to it?

Hard to really know. The only times we know of him fricking up (getting arrested and I guess some might count the autograph thing, I don't) he was certainly disciplined. There might have been other times we don't know about I'm pretty critical of our staff now but I don't think this falls on them, you can only do so much to change a person. If you're going to blame anyone besides him it would be his parents IMO

Talking head crap. He faced consequences while at TAMU.

Problem is, Manziel generally doesn't give a frick about consequences.

Dilfer choked a fan in a bar, and Ray Lewis was part of a murder.

Holier than thou BS.
