you can't tell me you wouldn't want to see him in the Cowboy half-way house and image rehab program.

He'd be damn entertaining in Cowboys blue.

He'd also probably find a way to frick it up eventually.

And the whole thing would make for great theater

It is all a matter of perception. If the Browns wanted him to play and thought he was good then he'd play and wouldn't give a shite about off the field stuff. Just look at Hardy and the Cowgirls.

I think Radio could have had a decent career as a backup and guy who gets other chances to start if he had been professional about the Titans thing. He acted like a bitch and they cut him and he was horrendous in Philly. I think he just kind of mailed in the rest of his career after the Titans let him go. He wasn't that bad when he started in 09 and 10

A shitload better than Leaf and Russell for sure

I don't know how anyone can't see this. The Browns have been a hard arse about Johnny since day 1 and the media has been eating this shite up since he was at A&M. Every nothing becomes a HUGE story because it's going to get clicks.

JOHNNY GETS KICKED OUT OF A UT FRAT PARTY!!!

"OMG what an idiot!"
"What the hell is he doing??"
"He should have known better than to go there!"

Meanwhile, Gronk be like...

...and is celebrated for it.

Johnny needed to get his shite together after last season, that was obvious. He looked lost on the field. But, he's gotten his opportunity this season and has been impressive. All he's guilty of at this point is allowing ANYONE to video him ANYWHERE, and even that's not going to be enough to completely keep him out of the news.

Another team will gladly snatch him up.

Gronk is the best TE in the NFL. Johnny is still very much unproven. Also to my knowledge, Gronk has never been to rehab.

Johnny is an extremely immature kid that happens to play the most demanding position in sports. Not a good combo.

The problem is you can find a shitload of players on every single team that act the way he does but they haven't had a target placed on their back created by the over the top way ESPN covered him while he was at A&M.

Tebow is the only other guy I can think of that the media felt the need to blow everything out of proportion the way they have done with Johnny. The guy couldn't fart w/o ESPN having it as breaking news.

A perfect example is when ESPN completely pulled out of their asses that this

was him mocking the entire autograph ordeal (which was also a ton of overblown horseshite but I don't even want to get into that mess)

Now we all know that JM didn't start that signal and wasn't doing it to mock anything but that sure as shite was how TM... I mean ESPN reported it. So even though what they said wasn't true, that is how people ignorant of the program saw it. It became "fact" to the point that he has to stop doing it as if he is the only guy to play NFL ball to have a celebration gesture for big plays. That's pretty fricked IMO.

I'm going to take a break from this thread so it doesn't come across that I hate Johnny, but JFF was given a chance that few get. Instead of outworking everyone and making the most of his opportunity, he became a distraction.

He brought this upon himself.

Disagree, that's the point we're trying to make. He should be smarter given the situation the media puts him in and not pose for a video while out drinking, but the only reason it's a "distraction" is because the media makes it one. That's it. And I'd be more apt to put this on Johnny if the media hadn't started making up bullshite drama out of nothing when he was still here.

Obviously reporters aren't asking Pettine about Johnny's charity work over the weekend, that's not going to get clicks.

"Stop it" isn't in his vocabulary. With all that has happened and with the national perception of him (whether right or wrong), he could just Stop it. But he won't. No sympathy at all from me, which I guess is why Roger gave me his quote.

I like to associate it with distractions as well. These coaches, alot of their pet peeves are just that. I think people gave him shite for the money symbol because in general nobody likes a cocky person. I find it hard to believe how ending up in the media isn't his fault alot of the time. Or if he would have expressed he cares probably wouldn't be a big deal. But he did take the idgaf road and the media will eat you alive if you go that route.
And it's kind of hard to say he wasn't doing anything wrong. He checked himself into a rehab because he was falling into the wrong lifestyle. I haven't been keeping up with him though is he back to all that or still clean or managing?
He really hasn't been in the news all that much lately.

Nah bruh. You can't blame the media when you're the one providing them with ammo.

He knows what his reputation is, and flaunts it in spite of the fact that the more he does it, the more he'll be scrutinized for it. Is is fair? Hell no. Fame never is.

But if he gave more of a shite about managing his public image, these kerfuffles with the media wouldn't even arise. He truly does bring all of this upon himself.

Not it's not. It's called burden of proof. If Johnny and Pettine had an agreement and he broke it then he deserves to get demoted.

Pretty tiresome seeing people judge the guy over 5 second tmz vids though.

Don't ask me how I know, but when he was here for the game that weekend the NFL showed up at the house he was staying at and piss tested him.

I get some of the criticism of Johnny but the only way it floats is that he is being held to a very high standard above the average NFL player. He is single and has essentially a clean criminal record. I could see last year when his results on the field weren't there but he has been excellent this year. A 22 year old out having a good time shouldn't be an outrage and the comparisons to Leaf and such are ridiculous.

Johnny is living under a microscope where every action is scrutinized. You can argue that because of that he has to live like a saint but in the end he doesn't deserve the level of scrutiny he gets.

I absolutely believe that Pettine has been waiting for an excuse to throw Johnny under the bus and Johnny was foolish enough to give him one, even if it was overblown. If no other NFL team gives him a shot it will be a true tragedy, I firmly believe in the right environment he would thrive. He isn't Peyton Manning but so what? Even Tom Brady left his pregnant girlfriend for his current wife, that's a lot worse than anything Johnny has ever done. Look at Jameis Winston. Dude is 100X more immature and thuggish than Johnny and yet he is fully supported and praised. Give Johnny the same level of support and he will tear it up. The amazing thing is the kid is actually smart and well spoken. I remember watching him during the NC show with Tebow and he made Tebow (who was a professional at that point) look like a 3rd grader.

Maybe Johnny was just born 20 years too late.

I find the structure of this sentence to be impeccable.

It may even get the sig treatment
