I'm thinking about making the trip for the OM game.

I came in 2014 on thanksgiving for the LSU game, the tailgating kind of sucked but it was thanksgiving so I fully attribute that to it being a holiday. The game was incredible though, any recommendations?

Prob won't be able to find a place to stay this late in the game but you can try, might get lucky with cancellations. Or you can stay outside Houston

Atmosphere should be great for this game

I stayed in a suburb of Houston last time, it was about a hour or a little more of a drive

It was probably about an hour drive to Houston too. We have one of the most spread out cities.

It is probably still your best option. I was just making a comment about Houston.

My preference is tailgate or northgate just long enough to get in to the stadium on time for the team intros.

Others will recommend march in pregame, but that never really did much for me.

Its neat to kind of walk around the stadium and check it out if you've never seen it before. Not just Kyle, but any new stadium or ballpark for me.

You can probably enjoy some of the campus if you want to walk from NG. I would recommend down military walk to the memorial student center. It is a straight shot to Kyle and you can see campus a little.

If you've never been to a yell practice and are in town the night before it is worth checking out. It'll probably seem odd top an outsider, but you can still appreciate the yells, stories, and all and all spirit of the fanbase before all games.

If you need food recommendations, I'm sure we can dig up an old thread or I can tell you best spots.

You could always look around to see if there's still a hotel room but be ready for some bullshite price gouging. They'll probably make you reserve 2nights as well. I'm guessing this will be a night game though so you might not want to make the drive back to Houston now that 4 hour games are apparently the norm in CFB.

TBH I never much cared for the DC. I'm more of a Dry Bean kinda guy. It sucks that they aren't allowed to light the flaming Dr Peppers on fire anymore though.

I've never had one, were they that good? Most of my drinking days on Northgate occurred in the 80's when I was still in HS

Its basically like an easier to drink version of an Irish car bomb that tastes like a store brand DP. Main difference is you down about half of a beer instead of the entire thing when you drop the shot in. You at least get to keep the rest of the beer left in the bottle though. Lighting it on fire doesn't really change much other than it looks cool. The bartender said they were forced to stop lighting them this year after a person posted a pic of 20 being lit all at once. Apparently their insurance people saw it and demanded they stop bc the place is a bit of a tinderbox.

#SYANG Buga.

Tailgate before the game, walk to Northgate afterwards. Rebels always has a lot of opposing fans. The chicken won't be your crowd but its worth stopping by. Chimys will be insanely crowded but is a great game day set up. Won't be able to do a lot of bar hopping just due to the amount of people there on game day.
