This is the best shot y'all have at getting the monkey off your back and beating us. I will say this, not many could take what happened week 1 and turn it around like sumlin has. Granted your schedule allowed for a couple horrible performances against inferior competition to get it turned back right. But you guys fought a man's fight against bama. You went to the swamp and got the W. 9 wins would be a good season esp if you can win the bowl and get to 10.

I thought Mond was nothing more than Kyler part 2. But that kid's a gamer. If he can progress in the off-season, lookout! (assuming y'all can keep him on the roster of course )

I'm not trying to argue. I am not a Sumlin fan or hater. I wanted him gone after last year. He wasn't so now I will judge him this year along with what he's shown in his first 5 years.

So tell me why you think things are going to magically change for Sumlin without Johnny 2.0 walking through the door.

What leads you to believe he will ever be more than an 8 or 9 win coach without a heisman winner at QB?

Mond is a true fish

You don't see him having a shot at being rock solid if he gets o-line help?

Winning the Florida game in the fashion that we won it gives me optimism. The team looks ready to win close games without Johnny Football.

But it's only optimism until the W's actually happen.

What’s kind of scary if you think about it, if we had held on and beaten UCLA, we’d be a top 15 team. Squeaking out that win vs UF on the back of four FGs but with a high ranking next to our name....the fanbase’s reaction would have been full meltdown.

Florida sucks. They were going to be meh without 9 dudes under investigation and 7 more hurt. They want to fire their coach after winning the division twice in a row.

If we're not trying to win, what are we doing?

Umm... trying to win? I don't understand your question.

I think ProjectPat's point was that IF A&M hadn't shite the bed against UCLA, many fans would be jumping off the cliff now after a narrow win against UF. Which I agree with, except that many pussies are jumping off the cliff anyway.

The Swamp was amped up. I don't know if you got it on TV, but that place rivaled Kyle Field in loudness. Yes, really. I think the crowd had an effect on A&M's offense early. They did a very nice job. I know UF aren't world beaters, but that was a big win in a very tough environment. Far from perfect, but I really like how this team does not quit.

Still reminds me of 2005. A&M had gone 5-2 having just completed a hard-fought win against Kansas State in Manhattan.

The next game was against Iowa State at home...

What the hell does 2005 have to do with 2017? shite, I swear you get out your goddamn record book just to prove to yourself that we're gonna suck. Get a fricking grip!

2017 Mississippi State >= 2005 Iowa State.

Nick Fitzgerald is by far the most dangerous quarterback A&M will face this season from a purely offensive standpoint. Patterson and Rosen are better passers, Hurts is a better rusher, but Fitzgerald is a complete dual threat.

OK? I mean I don't know, but I still don't see the relevance. Literally nobody involved with the 2005 AD has anything to do with the 2017 AD.

Nick Fitzgerald is a fine QB and they may actually win the game. I just don't get all the Negative Nancy crap.

9-3 with a normal loss to LSU? Stay.

Lose by 40 and it's not even that close?

Axe.

So rinse and repeat. They should hang a banner at Kyle Field that says that if we keep Sumlin. Y'all are letting a close loss and a close win make y'all think Sumlin is going to miraculously start winning championships.

Every year die hard Aggies let this shite happen mentally and then the next year we shite The bed and see the revisionist "I wanted him fired last year" bullshite.

I am going full scale out of control ban me from the board nuclear with my thread bumps next year when it happens. WBS is turning back into RodneyThomas86, I feel it coming.

Oh and i'm pretty sure this is the third year in a row I've started the "name Sumlin's replacement" thread in the hopes that it will keep the ADHD Ags on track. They get lost in the weeds too often. Many of us are very consistent though.

I give several of y'all credit for beating the drum, I just get tired of seeing Sumlin keep his job because he cons everyone with a couple wins every year.

Somehow we have people convinced there are circumstances where a coach that blew a 34 point lead should keep his job.

Pretty sure you believe there are too, you're just disagreeing with some on where the line between fire and keep is.

Losing to a school from Mississippi at home is like losing to Baylor, Iowa State, or Kansas at home. Should NEVER be acceptable under any circumstances.
