Not saying this is 100% on him. However I am saying it. How does one have 2 weeks to have a solid script down yet unable to score on the first drive. To not have 1 Qb prepared to pick apart their zone. Just saying I fricking hope he leaves on the coaching carrousel, but I think everyone else is smarter than us.

Are you sure Spavital isn't really Billy Kennedy in disguise?

Look, I don't think Spavital is some kind of offensive genius, by any means. But our QB threw 3 Pick 6s. Then the backup QB threw an INT, which somehow wasn't also returned for a TD.

Maybe Spavital neglected to tell our QBs to throw it to the man in the maroon jersey, I don't know.

If our QB is gonna throw 3 Pick 6s it wouldn't matter if Bill Belichick is the OC.

Coker made a few nice throws and didn't hurt his own cause. He was competent. Ours was incompetent. That's why we lost.

I said it on another thread and I'll say it again. I have been a very big spav hater for most of last season and this one but I don't think you can blame him for this loss. Anytime your QBs throw 4 picks with 3 returned for touchdowns, you are going to lose. It's not his fault Kyle over throws a wide open guys.

If you look at it, there actually were some very good pass calls in that game were Kirk or RSJ would be wide open on plays because the defense would lose track of everyone. He also didn't call any of those terrible screen passes where our running back or we goes in motion to the screen side and telegraphs to the defense what we are doing. Yes our run game needs to improve drastically, and sooner rather than later, but I just don't think you can lay this loss on him.

Our play calling is very predictable, we don't have the horses for that to happen. We have to have an unpredictable play caller for this offense (what type of offense this is I can't tell) to work. Our oline needs to do it's damn job as well, but when I can sit and watch on tv and tell you the play it's not going to work.

He did not have the offense prepared

After cooling off I can look back to the game and say Spav needs to go. There is something wrong with our offensive play calling and coaching

First Hate is not rational. Second when Spaz tries to "get cute” it fails. (Except against Bieliema I'll give him that his play calling fooled that man out of 3 time outs). I just wanted an opening drive script that could be run to perfection after a 2 week break not a virtual 3 and out. I want to see 1 QB that can expose the Bama Zone after 2 weeks. I want to see the crispness of a speed aerial attack. We're running some offense that can only be classify as a Spaz Spread. The roll out plays were smart to try and get the safeties to bite but when the Qb never scrambles they wont bite. It's like watching a Gary Kubiack called offense and it is hard for me to enjoy that as a Texans fan. I am high up with a great view of the flyover so maybe I saw a different game being so far. Whatever it was I hope Spaz goes somewhere else, the faster the better.

Spav is not BK in disguise. However his game plan Saturday left a lot to be desired.

That said, having basically 1 RB is killing us. We could badly use White and the 2 fish that are RS. That is a major problem unto itself. Use of that fish TE Davis would be a nice inclusion from time to time.

Mind.

Blown.

The real Spav is locked up in a broom closet in the bowels of Reed Arena, isn't he?

Being serious, I don't think Spav's an offensive genius. And, if we're going to spend 500 mil on our stadium, 5 mil on Sumlin (2nd highest paid coach in the SEC), and 1.6 on Chavis (looks like tied for 1st in the SEC with Muschamp), we ought to just cough up the final mil beyond whatever we're paying Spav right now and go get an offensive genius. Cheaping out at this point is penny-wise, pound-foolish. THAT SAID, there are a few things that are greatly hindering Spav.

1) The OL isn't good at all. I don't know if it's coaching or players not responding or what, but we don't run or pass block very well. The JUCOs look like busts right now. Granted, it's difficult to run block well because...
2) Carson is a situational power back being used as an every-down, all-purpose back. He's giving it his all, but we're asking him to do lots of things that are far outside his skill set.
3) Allen is still only a true sophomore. 2nd year QBs usually aren't very good. Honestly, for having below average protection and a below average running game for support, he's doing outstanding for a true sophomore.
4) This is pure speculation, but I'm worried Allen is really beat up. Everyone has a bad throw now and then, but accuracy has never been a consistent problem for him. Now after taking several big shots over the last few games, a lot of his passes are sailing and he's missing open guys.
