His 4 year record: 37-16.

Sumlin's first 4 years? 36-16.

Oregon's fans must have started more threads about him on their boards than you start here about Sumlin. Get on it.

Just gonna repost my thoughts from the CC board:

Oregon needs to continue to embrace their brand for their next hire. If they don't go for Chip Kelly or Scott Frost, it needs to be a spread disciple. The locals have very little patience for anything else if they don't win, and they sure as shite can't lose to the Beavers. As a t-shirt Beavs fan it's been an entertaining week for sure.

Don't mean a damn thing to Oregon. Phil Knight shits on all of our BMAs combined.

Helfrich went 4-8 this year. That's more loses in one year than Chip Kelly had in four seasons(46-7 w/4 division & 3 conference titles) as the HC. It was their first losing season since 2004 and only the second since 1993. On top of that they have Phil Knight and the power of Nike bankrolling the program. We don't have a single mega donor who does everything like that.

They aren't the same situation at all.

That extra game they played...it was their PAC 12 championship.

That's true. I was just trying to point out that he and Sumlin had the same record, but that he had also won the Pac 12. And he is getting fired.

If sumlin had an SEC championship, and a 4-8 season i may actually want to fire him less lol... depending on which year he won it I suppose.

The situation is different.

Oregon built itself up over a long time based on a certain "style" if you will, and so their last hire was done to try to keep that ball rolling. It worked out at first but then fell off showing why just promoting a guy to football CEO who is already apart of the program has big risks.

I feel like the message is more a warning to LSU than us. We never had the kind of success that a Oregan has had to WANT to keep it going. We just reboot the whole damn thing every 4-5 years and hope for the best.
