Because we aren't going to fill out our OOC with someone like ND for every game

Abilene Christian: Not exactly Notre Dame. Got it.

I don't mind gimme games but this is ridiculous. There are plenty of SMU's, Rice's, etc. Hell, ACU isn't even good by FCS standards. They were 3-8 last year, including a 28 point loss to SHSU. Remember those guys?

I really wish we wouldn't play FCS schools though. My only request is we fill the other three open spots every year with FBS schools from Texas, Louisiana or Oklahoma (Tulsa). Maybe a school like Southern Miss or Memphis if we have to stray further than that.

Between Rice SMU UTSA Texas State UNT UTEP UH Tulane La Tech ULL ULM and Tulsa I feel like you can get at the very least two spots from those schools. Non con games are often boring enough but they're really boring when it's an FCS school or some MAC school you've barely heard of

I personally dont mind playing FCS schools. I'm in the camp that it's good for college sports that these small time schools get a decent sized pay check that goes a long way for their athletic department. Not to mention, I really don't see the difference that playing a school like ball state is compared to some FCS bitch school

Ball St >>> school that was DII just a couple years ago.

You know how Baylor scheduled Incarnate Word? This is our version of that.

If they played eachother? Sure. If they play us? We beat abiline by 60 instead of ball state by 40. I really don't see that big a difference

I mean it's not like I'm here trying to call for more FCS scheduling, but if we do it once every few years it doesn't bother me at all

methinks playing a team w/actual FBS players better prepares our backups for future play than dudes who are just happy to have a cup of coffee in FCS.

And it's a team that we will still beat by more than 5 touchdowns

the amount we win by wasnt my point and you know that.

again, playing against guys that can actually hack it in FBS is still better for our player development than playing dudes who are barely even FCS quality.

Funny you mention that. Their Wikipedia entry shows Abilene Christian's big rival is... drumroll... Incarnate Word.

Same here, though I would stick to a rotation of Sam Houston/Lamar/Stephen F. Austin (as those schools are closer, they can have a few fans attend without too much of a drive).

ACU's (my actual Alma Mater) biggest rival is Texas A&M. The Javelinas of WEST Texas A&M.

A&M-Kingsville is the Javelinas.

There is absolutely no way we should ever play a FCS school. These contests should be done away with.

Well on the bright side, any money we pay for 'one and done' games is being paid out to other Texas schools.

Fresno State will play Texas A&M in 2020 and Arizona State in 2023 as part of future football dates announced Thursday by athletic director Jim Bartko.

Both are single-game contracts, with the Bulldogs scheduled to play Sept. 26, 2020, at Texas A&M and Sept. 16, 2023, at Arizona State.
