We annihilated them.

three min into 2nd half, it was 49-7 and we had outgained them 516-106.

Not bad for a JV team.

Yet, it wasn't sustainable.

Evans was a top 10 pick and the best WR in school history. Kirk has to take a big step this year to match him. Swope and Reynolds are different WRs but pretty equal honestly. RSJ is probably better than EZ as the third option, but not by a huge gap

And then this team has Ed Pope, Speedy Noil, Jeremy Tabuyo, D. Ratley, Frank Inheanacho, Boone, Clyde Chriss, and others...

You guys do realize that the next year we finished 9-4. Meanwhile, Auburn, with most of the same athletes went 12-2. They won the SEC West and were 1 play away from winning the NC.

You shouldn't use Auburn as an example on consistency. What have they done since then for example?

CB - Priest Willis > Deshazor Everett
How you gonna put a guy in the NFL below an unknown transfer who recorded a total of 3 PDs in two years at UCLA?

Prior to the 2012 season, Deshazor Everett had virtually no stats either.

Willis was more highly rated coming out of high school.

The next year we lost our ALL WORLD offensive line to the NFL and yet we were one blown horse-collar call from Auburn not playing for a Natty. And then in the following years Auburn, with all those SEC bodies, went to pot again.

What happened is that they had a coach with a gimmick scheme and a QB who could run it (2013), then that QB left, the successor QBs sucked (sound familiar?), and eventually the other coaches in the conference cracked his code and weren't bamboozled by his plays anymore. And now they're the Auburn of today.

Pretty spot on. We have to hope our successor at QB this year is better than theirs. If not, we may both be in the Herman sweepstakes in December.

This team is so much bigger and faster than that 2012 team and it isn't even close. I was out near the track for the Auburn game and we looked like a JV high school team compared to them.

I think you have the teams switched around there bud. We scored like 48 points on Auburn in the first half in 2012. That was probably the most lopsided A&M conference game I've ever watched

ETA nevermind, I see whoever's alter this is is trolling on here again

Analyst on Texags came in the radio today and said that A&M is probably a Top 15 team nationally in talent this year, but their schedule makes them a fringe top 25 team.

That Auburn team had Top 10 talent, but horrible coaching. They fixed it the next year and got lucky. They ended up playing for the title.

The stats guy has previously said that having a Top 15 team in recruiting will give you what you need to compete in most leagues for a NC.

Nah when I did the spreadsheet I calculated top 11-14 talent depending on service.

I was pretty damn close for using my memory and not a spreadsheet, but remember that transfers and JUCOs might not be accurately projected in recruiting rankings. Auburn is notorious for both. A&M has been picking up on that practice too.

I'm expecting 7-5 and another offseason full of excuses.

I have never been so un-excited about a football season. Well, maybe in Sherman's second year. But my excitement is at an all time low.

I'm pretty excited. I'm not as excited as when my friends told me that we were making a push for Manziel at Tivy, but I had friends who worked with Knight at Reagan and they were really impressed with the young man.

I also remember a poster on premium saying that he was puzzled as to why the A&M staff didyn't pursue Keith Ford (or Perine). I'm glad we are getting a 2nd chance with these 2 (Knight and Ford).

I'd be excited to see the second year under Chavis.

I'm not sure what Knight did at OU that would excite me. He's a senior but he's also learning a new offense (for the third time?).

But the defense should continue to improve under Chavis.

The simple fact that Knight is an upperclassman excites me. Sad, but true. We need some maturity under center.

But, yeah, I'm most excited for year 2 under Chavis. Defense always excites me more than offense (my favorite game as a student was a 9-6 win ). Saw a drastic change in year 1. If that trend continues, it'll bode well for us. We're going to have to lean on our defense to keep us in games this year, IMO.
