Sure, he's going to pull a Homer Norton and win the National Title in year 6.

Next season we'll be lucky to break .500. Offense has chance to be okay if we get Stidham; defense will be worst in the SEC.

Sumlin hasn't been around for six years. A&M also was in the Big 12, SWC, or worse. This is a new ballgame.

You got Bama with a 30 coach "NFL" staff with former players on the practice squad and their is everybody else... That's just football.
Take a look at the entire athletic department. A&M is recruiting at record levels in every sport, but the SEC is a different animal.

Gene Stallings won a conference title in the era of Darryl Royal. Get that weak shite out of here.

GTFO talking about weak shite when you use Stallings ONLY season w/a winning record at A&M as evidence of anything.

Gene Stallings Cotton Bowl year is the most overrated A&M football season and it's not even close. He did that with a 6-4 regular season record in a year that only two other SWC had winning records (Texas and Tech were both 6-4). A&M was the only SWC team to make a bowl that year. You love to shite on RC's accomplishments by saying the SWC sucked in his time. Using your own logic the '67 SWC title is a straight joke that was won purely b/c the conference was garbage that year.

If Sumlin or any other modern A&M coach won the SEC or even the SECW when it only had 3 teams above .500 you'd shite all over it and say it really shouldn't count.

With our sustained mediocrity, I think we should avoid discrediting any conference title

Sumlin won how many Conference USA titles again? ZERO?

I rest my case.

Even Franchione won the WAC.

Weren't we something like 17th or 18th in the nation this past signing day?

2014 and 2015 classes were strong but either they aren't developing or they left. We are losing a lot of starters this year off a defense that sucks. Where are all of the impact players from 2014 and 2015? We have a few but at least one is leaving early. For the most part they haven't really developed. That is a problem and a coaching issue.

With very good classes from 2014 and 2015 we ought to be "reloading" at a much much higher level. Overall sad state of affairs.

The one thing that is really irritating is that the stage was set for Sumlin in 2012. Had the excitement, the national presences, the momentum, etc... and we basically squandered all of that over the past 3-4 years.

From a perception standpoint, we are now about where we were our last year in the Big 12.

The best Nick Saban could do before he got to LSU was tie for the MAC title at Toledo and he lost to the CMU team they tied with and didn't get a bowl. If there had been divisions like now he wouldn't have even shared a conference title.

Keep pushing those goalposts with arbitrary metrics for future success!
