Does anyone else share my concern with the possibility of the Big12 adding UofH?

I Was having a conversation with a couple of Aggies today, brought on by reports that the big 12 coaches favor adding Houston and byu, and neither of them were worried about it in the least.

I imagine this would have a significant, negative, impact on our Houston recruiting. Am I wrong?

Adding UH would further marginalize t.u.

Why would that worry us?

Would it?

Isn't our biggest recruiting stronghold in Houston and the surrounding areas? I would imagine, though have no data to back it up, that we rely more on Houston talent than UT.

It's in A&M's best interest that UH remain out of a legitimate conference

I don't think this is true. We did our best recruiting when Beaty was dominating the DFW area. Many of our other top prospects are from OOS.

DFW (Myles Garrett, Nick Harvey, Daylon Mack, Daeshon Hall, James Lockhart, and Justin Madubuike)

OOS (Christian Kirk, Q. Cunningham, Speedy Noil, Kirk Merritt, Don Wilson, Priest Willis, A. Gennessy, and London).

This.

However, I'm less worried about this than I would be if we were still in the big12.

Now, UH in the big12 would rock the boat for us, not permanently marginalize us.

Harvey played at Lancaster. Gladewater is almost 2 hours closer to Dallas than Houston (1 hr 42 min vs. 3 hrs 30 min to Houston).

I'll be honest. There's no fricking reason TAMU shouldn't be able to kill recruiting in the state of Texas. SEC alone is a kill shot. The facilities are right there with Oregon. Unless Houston gets into a big boy conference it's no worries. Never know...Herman could be the next coach.

UH, TCU, BU, tu, and OU cannot all be good at once. The scheduling alone doesn't allow it. 2 or 3 will always be good. tu and OU will always recruit decently at worst. UH is just replacing BU for now. They may further hold down tu. It may hurt a little in Houston at time, but then again a good tu or OU can recruit Houston too.

This is all a moot point anyway since Houston is the 4th, 5th or 6th choice for the big 12 anyway. They are not going to add a 5th Texas school to the conference.

Harvey played at Travis in Richmond. If Gladewater is DFW then Shreveport might as well be DFW. It's two hours away.

The more power 5 programs in the state, the worse it is for us. It can be mitigated, but the talent pool is diluted to some degree no matter what.

Have to agree with this; as much talent as there is to go around in Texas, if all of those teams are in the same conference, someone is going to suck.

UH going to Big 12 isn't suddenly going to make their fan base care or anything. For recruits, it'll all depend on who is the coach. I doubt Herman would turn down Texas even if Houston got into a Power 5.

No. It would be bad for us.

We need them to add Cinci, UCF, Memphis and BYU and leave UH out.

Having Memphis in the XII would do to Ole Miss what Houston would do to us. Not destroy or marginalize us, but definitely be a thorn in the side of our recruiting.
