So we have 6 teams ranked in the preseason poll on our schedule. One would assume these will be our toughest games of the year. Looking a little deeper we seem to catch these guys at the right time.

#16 ASU
Game is neutral site, but, lets be real, it is basically a home game. It'll be 80-20 split at worst. Plus we open with ASU. If you look how we've fared in openers and bowl games (plenty of time to prepare) Sumlin is 5-1 with its only loss being vs a 12 win Florida team in Johnny's first start.

#20 Arkansas
Game is neutral. So at least its not on the road. Split will likely be 60-40 in our favor. We have 2 warm ups in Ball State & Nevada to prepare. Arkansas gets Texas Tech before they play us. They cannot afford to overlook the Red Raiders.

#3 Alabama
Game is at home. We have a bye week before the biggest game of the year. Bama will be coming off of @UGA then Ark. Both bruising running offense that'll make their defense work.

#15 Ole Miss
Game is on the road. We have Bama the week before. They get a warm up game in Memphis. This is the one ranked opponent where they have a distinct scheduling advantage.

#7 Auburn
Game is at home. We have USCe at home the week before. So one of the easiest SEC games (relative term) and not travel. They on the other hand are coming off of @ Ark then vs OM.

#20 LSU
Game is on the road. We have W Car & @ Van setting us up for the regular season finale, the Gulf War. LSU has @Bama, OM, & @Ark the 3 weeks leading up to our game.

Out of our 6 toughest games, 2 are home, 1 favorable neutral, 1 semi favorable neutral, and 2 road. 5 set up nicely for us (or at least better than our opponents) and only 1 does not.

I might have to go revise my predictions to give us a loss vs OM, but a win vs Bama or Auburn. I think we can take one of those.

The only worry I have vs arky from a schedule standpoint is they have two games before us vs air raid/spread teams. And each steps up in difficulty for them. So they will be in top form defending the spread by the time they see us.

Definitely have a favorable schedule.

Re: Arkansas/spread teams... hopefully the fact we will be coming at them with a completely different level of athletes negates any comfort level they have defending the scheme. Josh/Speedy/Kirk/RSJ/Pope on turf makes my pants tight.

Good points.

I also think we will be able to run the ball more and show more looks than they will.

I mean they can't overlook them like we can overlook Ball State. We can focus on getting better and preparing to Ark. Ark will have to prepare for TTU otherwise Cliff will hang 50 on them.

I think Arky could run the ball every single down and win by several scores, because that is almost what they did last year.

I said 9-3 but I'm thinking our losses come vs Bama OM and Arkansas

exactly. Once Bert figured out they couldn't stop tailback iso I'm not sure they ran another play. I don't think Tech has the size to do much about it
