Now let's contrast this with the improvements under Chief.

Scoring Defense:

2014 - 22.6
2015 - 24.1 (Decline of 1.5, but we haven't played our FCS school yet)

Total Defense:

2014 - 397.0
2015 - 391.6 (Improvement of 5.4 yards/game)

Pass Defense:

2014 - 222.1
2015 - 191.4 (Improvement of 30.7 yards/game)

Rush Defense:

2014 - 174.9
2015 - 200.1 (Decline of 25.8 yards/game)

Sacks:

2014 - 3.14/game
2015 - 3.00/game (Slight decline)

Tackles for Loss:

2014 - 5.9/game
2015 - 9.4/game (MASSIVE improvement)

Turnovers forced:

2014 - 6
2015 - 13 (more than double our 2014 output to this point)

3rd down defense:

2014 - 33.7%
2015 - 31.1% (slight improvement)

Pass efficiency defense:

2014 - 126.96
2015 - 116.38 (slight improvement)

Keep in mind that we held Lamar, Rice, and SMU to a combined 19 points early in the season. Aside from those three games, A&M had allowed an average of 34.8 points per game up to this point last season...keep in mind also that, at the time of the 2014 stats, 59-0 hadn't happened yet.

The fact we didn't hold Nevada & Ball State to down is going to hurt the overall numbers. I think when you compare SEC play you're going to see (not that I think you don't see it) that Chavis is worth every cent.

Here are the scoring defense numbers for 4 games worth of SEC play (2014 vs. 2015)

2014 - 34.8 ppg allowed
2015 - 26.0 ppg allowed (8.8 ppg improvement)
