Dave South is retiring after this year

Anyone want to take a stab at Dave South attempting to describe this announcement live?

Will those be tears of joy b/c we'll finally have a play by play guy that can accurately follow the action?

South has been dreadful since at least the 90s.

Great Ag, horrid play by play man. He should have been moved to color commentator 20 years ago.

however, this is going to lead to will johnson so this is probably going to leave us worse off

I guess part of my fondness for Dave South was listening to so many radio games as a kid and just not caring about/noticing his ability (or lack thereof) as a play-by-play announcer. Had to listen to us play Tech in the early 2000s somehow.

I wouldn't mind them giving Gabe Bock a shot

The best thing about Dave was that if you were driving across Texas and hunting through AM stations to find the game, you could always pick out his distinctive voice.

The worst thing about Dave was that he couldn't really do play by play and you had no idea what was going on when you did find him.
