Sorry, I wasn't clear. What I'm saying is Dodson is the only LB that Chief has truly recruited here. If he's not a stud for us in '17 after an offseason of beefing up- it's completely on Chief.
Based on what I saw from the starters the last 3 SEC games, go ahead and get him some more reps now.

I can't just judge the play of the defense without considering that at different points we've been without Garrett, Watts, and Willis due to injuries. Not to mention limiting injuries to Evans and Wilson. Yes, I believe we should have depth in place by now, but Chavis hasn't had time to recruit it yet. Not that he's exactly lighting the world on fire on the recruiting trail. But before we say the defense has regressed as the season went on, I think we have to consider these injuries.

I don't think you can blame letting other schools have all-time record setting days on injuries alone.

Oh, I'm not absolving him of guilt. Just saying that there are specific things you can point to as reasons for in season regression. You don't lose a top 5 NFL draft pick and keep pace with a replacement level backup.
