I thought he was absolutely crazy taking the SMU job. He was making a killing at Clemson and was a hot name, so he had the ability to be selective about the job he took. And then he took over one of the worst programs in the NCAA. Guess he saw something I didn't

Also, Mack Brown is a decent color commentator. Guy should've retired three years ago
EDIT: It's impossible to overstate how shitty June Jones was. Dude was basically showing up at the office and cashing checks for the last two years. That might be what Chad saw.

That really should be a great midmajor job. If you are even passable at recruiting it's a nice stop. The problem is for some reason SMU keeps hiring 60+ year old dudes who have no interest in recruiting so it makes the job appear to suck.
But SMU pays well. They have an amazing recruiting base. They don't play anyone worth a shite so you can rack up wins. It's not meant as a career destination, but it's a great job to get on the radar, much like the Cougar High gig.

honestly I believe that might be his motivation. you gotta figure it'll be at least 5 years before he can establish something solid in Dallas. By that time, it'll be apparent if Sumlin will be staying for the long haul. If KDS goes, Chad gets a call from Mama to come on back home.
