HERE

Pretty much in line with what everybody is thinking. If we gel and don't fall apart, then we have a shot at something special. If we drop the opener and maybe lose to Auburn, we are staring 4-8 or 5-7 in the face and Sumlin gets fired. I find it extremely hard to see us doing anything other than 10-2 or 4-8.

I think we'll find out fairly quickly whether we have something or not. Excited for a vet QB under center and year 2 of Chavis' defensive style.

It'll really depend on if/how well Knight and our receiving corps gel (which of course hinges on competent OL play, but I digress). My gut feeling is our defense will keep us within reasonable striking distance most games.

My point is, we are gonna tank hard if we lose to UCLA or Auburn, or both. Just don't see how this staff keeps the team together after that.

I gotta disagree.

There is far too much talent on this team to go 4-8. With the 3 ooc cupcakes, USCe, & MSU we will get to 5 minimum unless we face some stupid amount of injuries. Even if we struggle early, I could see this team (offense) just needing more time to gel. 10 wins to 4 wins is just too big of a swing.

I mean we could easily go 7-5 or 8-4, don't understand how that would be hard to see. We should expect it honestly

You mean that is what you hope. That is what we all hope.

Neither 4-8 nor 10-2 is terrible. 4-8 equals we get a new coach, 10-2 equals Sumlin built a staff that can compete in the SEC.

If we win 7 or 8 games, that is the real hell. In such a situation we will keep Sumlin, BUT it will be obvious he is a dead end if he can't do better with our most talented team in decades.

7 or 8 means two wasted seasons (2016 and 2017) but unfortunately for us is sorta likely.

Just hoping Knight delivers on the LEADERSHIP I think that's been lacking during the Sumlin tenure.

Including JFF.

10-2
9-3
8-4
7-5

All realistic scenarios depending on Knight, the O-line, and run defense improvements

Lose to both? Yeah probably tank.

Lose to one or the other? Depends on how the loss happened.

Less concerned about Knight's "leadership" and more about his accuracy and decision making.

57% and 25/19 TD/INT are Tyrone Swoopes-tier numbers. If he doesn't improve in those areas, no one will care about his leadership qualities.

i thought this was apparent back in 2013. sumlin is the scariest kind of coach cause he'll 8 win the shite out of you, just enough to keep his job.

Didn't we win 9 in 2013?

I'd rather be sad with 8 or 9 wins than happy with 5 wins like a certain other program. Just saying. Jar half full

This team is different. Our talent is at its peak. If Sumlin can't do it this year he will never do it.

I ain't ready to give up on Sumlin even if we go 8-5 this year. I still vividly remember the Fran and Sherman years

The only thing I give up on with 8 wins is the pipedream that we fundamentally change our program during the Big 12 GOR period and turn into the FSU of Texas before OU or Texas get a chance to come to the SEC and force us into permanent little brother status.

If we are ever going to make noise now is the time to do it.

O-line has GOT to step up. Talent level/ experience with this position group isn't as strong as 2012

8-5 will suck. That means we either go 7-5 (3-5 or 4-4) then win a meaningless bowl game vs an unranked team after finishing in the bottom half of the SECW or going 8-4 (4-4 or 5-3), but lose a little momentum in a slightly less than meaningless bowl game vs a team that will be borderline top 25. We really need to get to 9 and finish ranked. That is the minimum of a successful season for me.
