I hope not. That whole clan (including Elijah) are too damn flaky and don't seem to have their heads in the right place

I've been watching some tape on corprew. Kinda surprised he isn't a top 50 recruit. Physically mature kid who can get to the rim and finish. That's huge as a kid coming into college. Let alone one who actually has an OK, not great, perimeter game. Thank goodness Kansas got Josh Jackson to let this happen

We are recruiting well enough to where we should be a regular tournament team and should be able to compete for the SEC when Kentucky has to retool every third year or so

Eta: I know hop really likes him. I think he said the other day he thought he should be a top 30 kid

Having another guy who can create his own shot off the dribble is huge for us because of how we play on offense

Caldwell + Gilder + Corprew could be a nasty backcourt in 2 years

think that's pretty true but next year is the questionable one. If we can make the tourney, I feel very comfortable we can keep this momentum going and it'll just build on itself.

But next year's going to take a few players making a large leap and/or the fish being ready on day one. Plenty of reason to expect that could happen but until it does, it's just hopeful

The good thing is we'll probably sign a few top guys in the 2017 class before the season starts. And so even if next year is hit and miss, the following we should be a top team again

Next year shouldn't be a "questionable" tourney team imo. There is a crap load of talent on the roster, 4 of the 5 starters were contributors on a S16 team and the 5th starter is a 6-yr senior.

It looks like an 8/9 seed team with the chance to move up to 5-7 if a couple of guys exceed expectations.

Think we already know Gilder and Davis are special. I believe Hogg will be most improved. TTM will probably have the biggest jump in terms of statistics but Gilder and Hogg will be close. I think our starting 5 next year will be very solid. Davis needs to stay out of foul trouble though. Struggled with that some last year

being "contributors" on a S16 doesn't really mean much though. We return 1 starter and of the others, only Gilder showed flashes of being a star.

As an example, every year UK is young. And every year they are loaded with 5-star talent. In 7 years under Calipari they have made 4 Final Fours and flat missed the tournament one year.

We have talent. But it's not UK talent. And we're going to be young. Results may vary

True, but you don't need UK talent to be a solid tourney team.

Eric Vila from Spain has signed his NLI. Great pick up here. Another great class

We just signed Eric Vila, a SF/PF from FC Barcelona. Looks to have great upside, but might not be much of a contributor in year 1

A&M probably won't be, as young as, UK. These kids will be ready. A&M is building something special.

Agreed, of course you don't. But potential is just that. Sometimes it doesn't work out like you thought it might.

UK missed the tourney in 2013 with 2 future lotto picks and something like 5 future 1st rounders. Lotta potential though obviously. It just never clicked. The next year they lost in the final

Nerlens got hurt half way through the season, WCS was only freshman and I have no idea who the other 1st rd picks you're referring to.

Beyond that, I'm not sure how it's relevant to A&M. We have more returning than that UK team did. And we're probably a lot deeper. Of course nothing is ever guaranteed, but the talent is there with this team. Missing the tournament would be underperforming.

Pretty sure Goodwin was a 1st rounder that year. I don't know where Wiltjer will go but he was a SO on that team. Poythress was there as well.

And they were bubblicious before Noel got hurt which wasn't until mid Feb. His injury sealed their fate but they were struggling from the get go. Jeez they lost to us by double digits in Rupp in mid January and we were awful

I'm not even sure we're really disagreeing. I'm simply saying this will not be a veteran team that is easy to just look at talent and predict. Lotta variance
