Yes and no. Sure it helped the team, but the coaches told him (correctly) that he would be helping himself. He probably went from undrafted FA to 3rd round pick who will make ~700K in signing alone.

i dont think they meant gave him the name as in actually gave him the name. just that he made TM play so well that the name came up
