So I'm debating on coming down for the LSU game this year instead of going home for thanksgiving (priorities)

Questions:
-worth it to spend a night or two besides just game night down there?
-best place to stay? Not cheap but not luxury, like a solid Mariott Courtyard type
-will I fear for my physical safety if I wear purple and/or gold?

Yes.

Aggies are a friendly group and will more than likely fear for their physical safety from someone wearing purple and gold.

If it won't put you in a bind with family I highly suggest it.

I went out after the game 2 years ago and had a great night, but I don't remember how crowded it was. Remember the night before is a Wednesday,

Not sure about hotels, but you shouldn't have too much trouble with that or maybe a rental house.

I was literally told by an LSU fan that Aggies were "Too nice, and not to expect the same in BR" after giving his wife fajitas so wear what you want. If you aren't blantently disrespectful, you will be fine.

Unless you come the weekend before it'll be dead. If you really want to see something specific like the Bush library then come early. If not then I probably wouldn't.

There is nothing luxury like a Four Seasons or a Ritz, but the Hilton ain't shitty. There are so many hotels you're better off just going on online ratings than limiting yourself to a few listed on here. You might have getting getting a room. They're usually booked well in advance.

We're a nice bunch of assholes. You'll feel welcome.

Thanks, I still need to look at tickets and I guess look at hotels rather soon.

Better look at hotels soon. All the good ones will be booked up in the next few weeks if they aren't already are.

I'm near there and would be happy to buy you a beer but I spend thanksgiving at my place in the hill country with my kids and parents.

You need to jump on that ASAP. Might already be too late in most places.

My family lives there, but we're planning to have them travel to San Antonio to spend Thanksgiving with us.

Absolutely not. Most Ags are so friendly to opposing fans you'll probably think it's an act

I'm in CS and will be going to the game. If my group is tailgating I'll be glad to share some bourbon.

Come to the Sonic at Texas and University if you want a fight before the game, otherwise you should be good.

From what I remember, most hotels in Cstat require a 2 night minimum on gameday weekends. As far as best place to stay, book early and you'll actually find one. Demand will be high.

Honestly, Bryan-College Station ain't exactly a destination unless you have personal attachment. Friday nights before Saturday games are fun, but Thanksgiving is different. Most people roll in the morning of and a lot of places won't open until 4PM.

That's what I figured re:thanksgiving game, kind of a shame. I like to experience the whole shebang but I'm not one who will go to a place to see a game if LSU isn't there

I don't want to discourage you from coming, I love the place and everyone will treat ya right. But it's not the full shebang, as you say, on Thanksgiving. If you travel for games a lot, you've seen a lot of college towns and have an idea what to expect otherwise. It's a big school with a bar district across from campus, and the rest of the town is fairly suburbanish.

Some other folks may have thoughts on this, but it feels to me like our recent history in Thanksgiving games has had some effect on the atmosphere.

Where do you live? I would try to come for a non LSU game if you live fairly close, maybe Ole Miss or Tennessee this year

As others have said, the hotels around here stick you with the 2 night minimum. Check and book now. There is a Courtyard Marriott on Hwy 6 at Rock Prairie.

Be polite and you'll probably be eating free food at tailgates before kickoff.
