Back in Shane's day, we actually needed a decent punter in Slocum's never-ending battles for field position.

He should have walked on with LSU. With a little luck, he would have an outside shot of becoming the team's offensive MVP.

Nothing, but he is 2 years into his eligibility. This will give us the ability to 1) introduce competition without using a scholly 2) hedge against injury 3) prep a new punter for 2 years down the road when Kaser is gone so we aren't breaking in a fish.

As long as there is no scholarship being used on him the more power to him.

Kaser redshirted last season. He's a RS-Sophomore, just like Bertolet.

Are you certain? He punted in the Idaho game according to Aggie Athletics and he is classified as a Sophomore not a Freshman (like Bertolet is)

Hopefully he's got a leg on him, but punter is such a small factor in this offense.

Kaser played in 2011 and redshirted in 2012. Bertolet reshirted in 2011 and played in 2012. They are both going to be So next season.

Seriously? You really don't understand how the redshirt process works do you.

If you don't play a single snap in any one season, provided you haven't already used a redshirt year, you can count that year as your "redshirt season".

If Michael Richardson is unable to play in 2013, he will be a REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE in 2014.

Brandon Williams and Tra Carson will be classified as REDSHIRT SOPHOMORES because they played as true freshmen at their respective schools before transferring. Same with A.J. Hilliard in 2014.

tmc94 thanks for clarifying. I read "red shirted last year" and immediately thought 2011.

I didn't realize he didn't play this year thus why I mentioned that he punted in the Idaho game (which we played in 2011)

Wildly inconsistent. He'll hit a 65 yarder and then follow it up with a 19 yarder off the side of his foot.

Kid is from Allen and likely wanted to be an Aggie, that simple.

I think we only punted 41 times last year though, pretty dull job.

Interesting that you would say that...as those are the only two punts of his career.

I'm envious of those who possess the ability of total recall.
