A New Spence Park
Was recently forwarded this. I hope it happens. Our tailgating would rival the Grove.

Independent site/collaborative effort, but would support (and I'm not even that big into the tailgating scene).
Would just be another feather in our cap to enhance our gameday atmosphere to maximize the usage of the spence park area as described in the link.

Everything has got to start somewhere. A usable park and green space in the middle of campus is needed, IMO. If the vision for that doesn't come internally that's not an issue as long as the vision comes from somewhere.

It makes zero sense to ignore the many possibilities the space provides. Get it done current & former ags.

The reason this hasnt already been done is because all official proposed plans have included a stipulation that the corps can no longer use the area for PT.

Spence was my favorite place to PT, but honestly, Research Park over on West Campus worked just as well. More of a job over there, too, for the new army fat CT's

Really? I figured it was just a money thing.

Pretty much. I posted ideas of improving Spence on Texags a year or so ago and some former Corps members lost their minds and got the thread whacked.

Stupid. I loved PT at Spence, but it's a fricking huge-arse campus. I think my Corps experience would have been just as fine PT-ing elsewhere

Do you think if a go fund me or some type of fundraiser was started it could be successful given a lot of publicity?
I'm guessing even if the money was raised by donors some arrogant higher up in the BOR or something would find a way to ignore the project.

This is my thinking as well. For whatever inane reason, giving Spence a facelift hasn't been on the table as any sort of priority, and while a grassroots effort will help draw attention to the issue, it's probably doomed to futility at the moment.
Would like to see it revisited a couple of years after the stadium renovation is complete, though. Might gain significantly more traction then.

No idea, but if the higher ups don't think putting a café/yoga studio wouldn't generate some sort of revenue they are crazy. There are 50k students... there needs to be a park that's used.

I'd consider going back and getting another four year degree just for that.
