Before. He's the #1 ILB in the country. I'm sure a lot will change between now and then. I like how he says he has no leader even though he's a Baylor verbal.

The link is a bit dated; but I saw another headline that Chief was in contact again on 9/9, after the ASU game. Looks like we're making a push on a lot of recruiting fronts. Nice to see all that hard work starting to gain some traction. Funny what putting an impressive product (or an underwhelming product) can do to recruits....

We want him, for sure. Very few kids are 100% locked in, especially when they commit this early, so I wouldn't rule it out (although I wouldn't necessarily expect it either)

Makes me wonder what is drawing him to texas especially with Tra be on our team.

Biggest factor is probably Jeff Traylor, former Gilmer HS coach, now recruiting east TX for the Horns

It's kind of a shocker, but give Texas and Baylor credit.... they're reeling in some nice 2017 kids early. Are they flip candidates? Sure.....but nobody likes to recruit knowing you're behind. I honestly think Carson committed because Texas is super thin on talent at DE and they're missing on every single offer in 2016. So instant playing time is a big big bonus picking them if you had to analyze it. He's already pushing 270 pounds, so its not like he needs to mature physically. Sumlin plays freshman and he knows that but we're much much deeper talent wise.
We're expected to get a couple 2017 yessirs soon though from what I understand. TyJon Lindsey, Tate Martells go to guy....maybe as soon as this weekend.

Watching his highlights you can see not only how good he is but also how good of a qb Tate is. I was obviously impressed w/ both. Hope we land the little fella

Saw that a 5* back from the 17 class said we were his dream school. Anyone know if we've offered him since that report? Or if coaches have been in contact?
