Watching the Spring game on delay, random thoughts:
Mond has a weird arse throwing motion. Almost like he's trying to lob every throw.
Pryor's going to be good.
I still have no confidence in our receiving corps.
Labhart involved in a ton of stops, tough to tell if he could contribute in actual games though.
Fuller in on a few pass breakups, that's good to see as the secondary needs help badly.
Still having wild snap issues....
Starkel looked best, but that's not saying much.
Overall, the entire team looked flat and weak. On paper I thought there's no way we win more than 6 games next year, this just further reinforces it.

The QBs seemed to try and go downfield every throw in at least a 1v1 situation so ill dismiss the bad completion % of all of them, but our receivers werent very inspiring.
maybe ron cooper is as good as his reputation cause our DBs were always in the right place. And yea, fuller did have great coverage on one ball i saw.
agree the whole thing looked flat and uninspiring. ive heard 2 players talked about all spring, ausbon and hines, and didnt hear either names called today.

Hines (and Dodson) were out.

I'm fairly certain Hines was out with an injury. Dunno about Ausbon, though. As far as I know he was just covered well.
We're certainly no closer to a QB answer. When Starkel went 3/3 including a TD on his first drive, I was thinking "well here we go." But he ended up around 30% completions. None of the 3 QBs were impressive. Jake actually had the highest completion percentage (50%) which should scare the crap out of everybody if the season started today. Fortunately it does not.
On the plus side, it looks like we're really truly going to use a TE this year. Kline was very good. And I don't know where cousin of Travis came from, but Labhart had (conservative estimate) a billionty tackles. And Etwi came to play. He ran for some tough yards.

Between this and FNL, the roster, lack of QBs, and what we already know of our coaching, there's no way we win more than 6 games.
We just need to hope that Chad Morris is for real.

I didn't watch the entire game, but what I did see was a very bad football team going through the motions.
First of all, we are a very weak non-physical team. Second, it didn't look like anyone wanted to be there. And third, we are in dire straits in the QB position.
I hate how our receivers still "dance" or try to juke out a defender after they catch the ball. They never catch a pass and then turn upfield and attack the defense. This tells me they are scared of getting hit and don't have the mental toughness to play in this league. And I think this also tells us about the culture of this team and our regime.
Our defense is marginally more physical, but still way behind everyone else in this league. Sure, we are developing some talent but I don't see the development of the mental toughness needed to compete in this league.
Sumlin will do no better than 7-5 this year. He needs to be fired and we need to rebuild. We don't need another "spread" type of coach; we need a no bullshite hardnose bad arse that will toughen up these candy asses. We play in the toughest division in all of football, and after six years we know what we've got. We ain't got shite.

Y'all shouldn't be surprised. I didn't follow spring practice one lick until the spring game and saw all I needed to see. Find another hobby for a couple of years.

Wonder what the Jim Wilson excuse machine will crank out after thus season crashes and burns.

Also judging by the inactivity of this board, looks like many of us have already found new hobbies what a shitty state of affairs

No, you got downvoted b/c you were using snap issues to say our o-line coach sucks which is flat ridiculous considering Turner is well respected and was the architect of the badass lines we had when we entered the SEC. Nice try baw.

The best thing I can say about this spring game is that there's zero chance these guys are good enough to perform at a high enough level to save sumlins job next year.

Why downvote him for calling a spade a spade? We continue to have these issues regardless of Turner's reputation. And that is a fact.
Another fact is that we've got to learn how to cut bait with coaches that aren't going to work out in this league. Sumlin should have been fired after he fricked up his QB situation. Kennedy should have been fired after this year. Childress is next. There is no other school in the SEC that just sits on lame duck coaches like A&M does. Until we learn how to part ways with losers, we will continue to be losers ourselves. We just don't have the balls as a university to win.

like sumlin, chavis, and pretty much all our other coaches, its a do or die year for turner but its not rational to blame our snap issues on him.

Take his dick out of your mouth for 5 seconds and watch our o line. It stinks and we can't even snap the football correctly half the time. I don't give a hoot in hell if he's respected for what he's done in the past. That's for hero-worshipping sycophants like you. I care about results and I'm calling it like I see it: after two years of his tutelage, his unit can't even do the most basic element of its job correctly. That's failure writ very large. But I'm sure your cognitive dissonance will prevent you from reading this and thinking about it logically, so back to polishing his balls for you I guess.
