When did we have a 20ish finish?

The 2016 class, with Alton removed, ranks #20.

Well they do have an easy schedule and were in the playoffs despite getting destroyed there

To get an accurate ranking, we'd have remove every kid from every school that didn't qualify or just didn't make it to campus

College football playoff appearance, the presse is raving about them as a possible addition to the SEC, and somehow they've managed to suppress to Joe Mixon video.

Probably didn't help that his area recruiter is Banks. Rumint is that he probably won't qualify out of high school anyway.

True. All of Penn State's class enrolled, so technically they move up. OU had one OL not qualify and an LB retire due to medical issues, so they stay behind us and our class falls from 18th to 19th.

Yup. They're still very successful on the field and now are back to great recruiting. A lot of Ags thought we would shut them down after Johnny dismantled them in the cotton bowl, but Stoops continues to show he's a great coach.

If being a great coach means getting dismantled by Sumlin, Strong, Patterson, Briles, Gundy and Chad Morris...

Dude lost to Charlie Strong last year. Is that great coaching???? Dude is in a weak conference and he is taking advantage of that now.

Sorry but Stoops >>> Sumlin regardless of whether he got complacent for a couple years there.

He lost to a historically bad tu team and horribly inept coach

But Bob Stoops is still one of college footballs greatest coaches over the last 20 years, it is what it is. Johnny and Mike Evans dismantled OU in the cotton bowl, not Sumlin

Maybe, but our move to the SEC definitely gave us an opportunity to change the dynamic of OU >> A&M.

From the beginning of recruiting rankings in 2004 until 2012 OU always had a higher rated class than us on NSD. Then in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 we had a higher ranked recruiting class.

It was very obvious that our SEC move gave us a chance to build ourselves up at their expense despite Stoops and despite decades of championships. If we don't have success this season we will have wasted that opportunity and shut the window on ourselves.

I'm sure TCU joining the Big 12 probably played into less recruits from the DFW area.

KK and Briles also started hosting a game at ATT a couple years ago. Unlike the SEC, they are able to recruit at these neutral site games.
The SEC did not allow A&M and Arky to recruit at their game.

Alabama decided they wanted to play in Dallas too, so the league abruptly changes the rule. Now A&M and Arky alternate years they can recruit in Dallas, but now several SEC teams have targeted games in Dallas and Houston.

It also probably didn't help that A&M's DFW recruiter is now the HC at KU.
