i was just a tech in the navy, back in the 90's. had fun, got to see all of asia, australia some of the middle east (goat cheese pizza in karachi pakistan, bleh!) even went to vladivostok russia for the 4th of july (that went over well, lol).

Had a dear uncle in the Navy. He passed away when I was in the Corps. Still miss him. Dude was 6'8" and jacked. Did a couple of tours in Korea and was in Hawaii for awhile, among other places, iirc. Y'all boat boys get around

Appreciate it, man. Been married four years, but only lived under the same roof half that time thanks to her and my various deployments, training, TDYs, or just being stationed at different bases. Proud to serve, but I know she's ready to give civilian life a try.

It's all good--never really saw the point of sites like that, tbh. I hate shams.

Yeah, I believe I heard he was back with the team, but I can't recall anything other than that being discussed on this board. Which I guess sort of says it all, they are probably expecting very little out of him would be my guess.

Dude was a huge recruit. Crazy that he's done nothing. And nobody really cares. We are DEEP.

If he's back with the team, he's just a red shirt sophomore, right?

good to see service runs in your family too.

they do have some huge individuals in the navy. we had a guy named lewis from louisiana who could bench 455 and worked out once or twice a week. dude was HUGE. i'm fairly jacked, i'm still working on the 6'8" part

they told us in boot camp that our job is to sling our manhood around the world (paraphrase), but i never served with women, so they might not say that anymore.

do most people in the corps join after college?

sounds like you come from a solid family and have one going yourself.

edit: holy crap. 455, not 555.

Can you imagine what it must have been like to try to feed that young man during high school?

If we sucked and had fewer decent players it seems some people around here would be happier because it would mean players from specific classes would play more

Hey. I don't care at all. I want the best players to play. I also want to be full of deep talent. The best teams don't just have the best starters. They have the best 2 deep.

It's just weird when you visualize a player's career at A&M, and it doesn't turn out like you thought. When Justin Manning committed, we were so desperate for D-lineman, especially DTs. I could not have envisioned a situation where we looked this good on the line without his contribution. But I'm happy it appears to be that way. I will keep pulling for the kid, as I pull for all Aggies.

agree

My point is that whether it's Manning or Garner or Wiggins or whomever, every time someone from the 2013 class gets mentioned, certain people go full Rain Man counting toothpicks like it matters what class someone is from.

Dae Dae wasn't starting last year because Myles Garrett came on board. Hall is going to be an really good this year. It's not his fault that Myles is a wunderkind. As long as you recruit at a high level, some guys will get passed up. Even some really good players. At this point it's a good thing when highly recruited players can't crack the 2-deep.

Absolutely. I grew up watching LSU, and I was a huge fan as Saban built that team. And I always would tell my Aggie friends that we will have arrived once we redshirt a stud recruit.

My feeling too. DT requires a lot of power, and it's tough for a fish to compete with upperclassmen who've spent years in a college S&C program. He's got time

Manning may have been more of a factor if he didn't miss the whole spring and summer with personal issues as well.

Our DL is salty. Keke is already a bill brasky 7 ft 2 ton man mountain and he's probably going to redshirt.

when I was in school, we had a cornerback named Kary Vincent. Over his time at A&M, he backed up Kevin Smith, Ray Mickens, and Aaron Glenn - never starting a game in his career. He went on to be a 6th round NFL draft pick.

I'm not worried about who doesn't play. I'm worried about who does. If we are watching a Raven/Honeycutt equivalent play at DT complete with a Benny Hill soundtrack and Manning isn't getting into the rotation. then I'll worry. But if we're mauling people, Manning on the bench means nothing.
