Trevor Knight is #1 as an impact Transfer. Keith Ford is also listed.

That's cool and all but the fact that this guy has John O'Korn at Michigan so high makes me wonder if he has ever seen any of these guys even play.

That dude was straight garbage at Houston and it really wasn't due to scheme, coaching, or the talent around him. He makes Kenny Hill look like he has the accuracy and decision making skills of Kurt Warner.

I have no expectations for Knight. He can be athletic, ripped, a great leader and teammate all he wants. I want to know if he can complete a slant route consistently on 3rd and 5 with an SEC DL in his face. He couldn't do that in the Big XII so I have no reason to expect much until I see it.

I thought you guys would be excited about the former "Sherman" commit making it to Aggieland.

If we get 2013 Knight, great. That small sample size vs 2014 though isn't encouraging.

I didn't watch that tape. It looks like he beat everybody, but TCU, KSU, and he suffered a possible career ending injury against Baylor.

TCU finished 12-1
KSU finished 9-4
BU finished 11-2

If he has managed to get a "little" better over the last year and a half, we will likely be in ok shape. My biggest concern is his durability since Knight likes to run the ball.

He was great running the zone read and throwing outside the pocket. He struggles a lot in the pocket, and the stats say he is very poor against the blitz. He tends to throw high, which is much worse than throwing low/short.

I believe we saw some zone read during the Spring game. Mazzone ran a bunch of zone with UCLA and Brett Hundley ( LINK). Dave Christensen and the players that were recruited over the last year were brought into the program to implement zone out of the spread. I fail to see the issue outside of throwing it high.

His top receivers in 2014 at OU were Durron Neal (5'11") and Sterling Shepard (5'10"). It did seem like he had some issues getting it to Kirk (5'11"). Everyone else seemed to do well. Tabuyo and Jeffry might have issues, but Speedy can jump out of the building.

The good thing is, even if Trevor Knight is borderline crappy, he could still end up in the top half of the SEC for QBs. It's a mess across the league.

And we finally have what should be an outstanding defense to pick up the slack. Teams have been winning 9/10/11 games in this league with that formula for a long arse time.

Our saving grace this year might be the possibility that Knight could be by default the second best QB in the West. Auburn, Arkansas and MSU all figure to have below average to awful first year starters, Bama will at least have a new starter and Harris at LSU is still below average after close to 20 career starts.

The shame of it is though that outside of QB and OL we are pretty loaded as far as starters go. Only LSU is more experienced at the top of the depth chart. A third year KA or fourth year Kenny Hill might make us the preseason favorites.

In the end though it's tough to get excited even if we surprise this year because the impending 2017 disaster still looms. That's gonna be a bottom feeder.

No offense but this attitude is moronic.

It's like the people that couldn't enjoy this year's basketball success, because of their hate for Kennedy. And I say that as a very strong Kennedy skeptic. We're A&M, success isn't going to happen every year. Finding reasons to not enjoy what little success we do have seems dumb and unhealthy.

I'll wait and see on the defense, our "elite" pass defense was largely s product of teams not needing to throw and the run defense according to spring reports is still a problem.

Tennessee and Auburn especially could absolutely eat our lunch.

Arizona St threw it 50 times
Miss St threw it 36 times
Ole Miss 42

All 3 were excellent games by our pass D. Yeah some teams only threw when necessary, but the pass D (including the pass rush) is legit

But Kennedy, whether or not I give him credit, has recruited well and with this surprising late push has secured back to back elite signing classes.

Sumlin has flopped in recruiting and our fate is all but sealed in 2017 because of it. All 2016 has the potential to do is prolong our suffering by winning 9 games and then giving more time.

Longterm, much as it sucks, the best thing is probably 6-6 this year and bye Sumlin, endure 2017 that's gonna happen regardless and hope the new coach has it sorted out from there.

This has the potential to be Sumlin's 2006, where Fran won 9 and got to hang around soiling the program for another 12 months. How much longer did those two extra Fran recruiting classes put us back?

You can think this, and you may be right... but you dont know this. There's not even compelling evidence that it is much more likely to be right than not.

Maybe our window for putting together an elite program came and went. But we have an elite DC, a very competent OC paired with a potential stud OL coach. And our last 2 classes have ranked 11 and 19. No telling how this year ends. Yes, we all wish the last 12 months would have went better, but the book hasn't been written on this staff.

So, again, it seems dumb to be doom and gloom in the face of any success. Why follow the sport if you can't enjoy the good times?

Because college sports for major schools are about program building, not isolated individual years. We aren't Northwestern, we're pumping too much into this thing to be satisfied with isolated 9 win seasons.

And admittedly, I have an extremely low personal opinion of Sumlin based on what I know about him and believe him unfit and undeserving of representing our school and leading young men. He's a self-interested, arrogant, lazy cock thistle with no loyalty.
