Watching a replay of yesterday's game in a situation where I can pay much better attention and it seemed he continued his pattern of not being very good and at times got downright abused

He's obviously still pretty young but do we think this guy will ever live up to his potential? At least be above average?

In the first quarter, he looked like shite, but did well the rest of the game. The Oline didn't give up a sack yesterday, which was the first time that happened this season, I think.

Keep in mind the type of D we were playing, not only do they hardly ever blitz but they also drop into a zone very often

I'm not trying to be ignorant but we all know that isn't the type of front 7 we have to compete against week in and week out in the SEC

Also several jailbreak rushes that we're sure sacks were avoided yesterday solely bc of Dobbs's ability to improvise or get the ball away VERY quickly

True, but I also think Richmond has been poorly coached.

He is far, far behind mentally.

I think he is a serviceable SEC player at his best. A long way from that right now though.

He still seems very bad in pass protection. Future as a guard maybe, because he sure isn't reliable enough to have at left tackle

He forgets to move his feet in pass blocking for some reason. Also, he needs to get stronger and become an alpha like Jennings.

Haven't watched it again but he played pretty well in the MCB imo, and tbh, looks like he's finally coming along. LT isn't a position that's easy to look good at in your first year playing regardless of how talented you are and he did pretty well while having his ups and downs. This season gave whoever coaches OL plenty of tape to work with to evaluate his strengths and weaknesses and correct and build upon them. That's something that should help his development a great deal. And of course, a new S&C coach will also help a great deal in building his strength.

I don't know about the mental thing. I've only heard that from 30 on here and while I'm not saying 30 is wrong I just haven't heard that from anyone else and usually when there's something like that going on you hear it from more than one source. 30 could be spot on but I'm taking a wait and see approach there. It could easily be a case of struggling to pick up zone blocking that got blown out of proportion given the high expectations for Richmond or just a guy taking a bit longer to learn.

Competition should also be pretty fierce at OT heading into the upcoming season so if Richmond has problems either physically or mentally he could lose the job to others.

I don't understand (for realz). Did Richmond have a massive amount of tape that I missed? I mean I've been known to drink during games on occasion so mayhap I missed an entire season of him starting or something in years prior.

Honestly, being able to see a player in live game action is crucial to coaching them and correcting errors/emphasizing their strong suits -- the time between the first year of game action and the next is where the most progress can be made. I guess I just feel I'm missing something here with regards to your comment/joke since I don't recall Richmond having a tape prior.

Confuzzled as frick by what you meant by any of that -- like utterly and completely and even more so since we're likely getting a new OL coach.

It was totally a shot at this years coaching especially in the OL area

Oh now you make sense. I'm so locked into to whoever the next guy is I haven't even considered Mahoney coming back as an option.
