It's the Chapman Hwy one I was thinking of for that. So definitely 441. Thanks.

Yep, that should be Chapman Hwy and you are correct that it'll eventually come that intersection in Sevierville for you to turn right. I think, but don't quote me, that road is hwy 411. Either way, it's the main drag through Sevierville/PF. If it has been awhile since you've been, that area has grown up a ton which is a shame but that's a rant for another day.

Yeah I wouldn't mess with 40 at all if I was you, especially since 441 puts you directly back on 275N.

I hope the trip goes well.

I forgot about Stock & Barrel...another nearby option would be Knox Mason.

Thanks all for the replies! We took my FIL out to lunch for Fathers Day and the wife gave him a card with a few details inside. He was super excited, and is really looking forward to the trip. Hope to see the inside of Neyland, including the press box area, the Manning complex, and at least the Summitt statue area outside of TB.

Hi folks,

Just got back from our trip. It was a long day, left Lexington about 8am, and got back about 30 minutes ago. My FIL loved it. Most excited I've seen him in a while.
Had our tour at 1pm today, with a young lady who from Knoxville. She was really nice.

Got to tour the high dollar seating areas of the stadium (leather chairs are nice under the boxes). Got to see the locker rooms and recruiting rooms, and media room. Got some good shots of the stadium as well.

Very nice. Great looking facility!

I won't bore you with pics unless you ask me to upload a few. Weather was great.

Was hoping to run into Payton Manning, but I guess he wasn't around there today.

Oh, and one more for trivia.

What story does this tell?

Ayers Hall is where the checkerboard end zones came from!

I think it was Dickey that looked up at it (when the North UD wasn't there) and said I want that in my endzones.

Not going to lie, I wasn't even paying attention to that in the background. I thought he was going somewhere with the chairs actually having seatbacks

Winner! What the young lady told us was that one of the coaches looked up one day (not sure if it was Neyland or Dickey), and saw the checkerboard, and told his players "run to the checkerboard", so they had to run up whatever steps were there at the time and back.
That was the inspiration to put the checkerboard in the endzones to "run to the checkerboard". Cool story I thought.

A couple of other fun facts:

The high dollar area for donors is $200K for 5 years (two tickets/access included), then $10K per year afterward. Includes all food/drinks (not alcohol though), and the leather seats.

My FIL remembers Neyland when it was known by the field name, and was a horseshoe. Another trivia question (don't look): Was the open end facing the river or the campus?
