Tennessee’s most significant victory of the weekend occurred in Lexington, Ky., on Saturday. The Vols secured another win when 5-star defensive lineman Derrick Brown released his official visit itinerary on Sunday.

Brown will take his last official visit to Knoxville on Jan. 29, the final weekend before National Signing Day on Feb. 3.

That puts the Vols in prime position for the No. 1 prospect in Georgia. Brown will take official visits to Mississippi State in November, Alabama in December then Georgia, Auburn and Tennessee on consecutive weekends in January.

The timing gives Tennessee an incredible advantage. Sure, other schools will still be recruiting Brown up until signing day, but Tennessee will get a chance to make the strongest, final impression for the standout from Buford (Ga.) Lanier.

5* defensive lineman Derrick Brown's last visit will be UT

The #Vols have landed a commitment from JUCO DE Jonathan Kongbo, the No. 2 overall JC player in the nation, per 247Sports’ rankings.

Byrd
Warrior
Kongbo
Dickerson

Those our are best shots imo. I think Brown goes to AU, although he is visiting this weekend and keeps things close to vest.

I want 4 out of those 5, but only if we can't get all 5. And Warrior HAS to be one of the 4

Warrior is non-negotiable. Dale Carter's offspring must be in Orange. Plus safety is probably our most immediate position of need.

What are you guys hearing about Kongbo this morning? I don't yet believe it but there seems to be some momentum on our end among the mods. Also 2 CBs this morning for us.

Got the three plus two nice surprises Byrd and Williams. Would have been nice to land Dickerson but I'm not complaining

Moss signed w/ Utah

Brown is the one remaining ???

Regardless, a Fulmer-istic job by Jones on the finish.

JaCoby Stevens? What can you guys tell me about him? Former teammate of Rico McGraw, just visited and liked what he saw. Is he a Vol lock or is he open for business?

I think it's to early to tell. If I am not mistaken though Stevens and Fant have talked about going to school at UT together.

A flyer promoting Tennessee's second in-state satellite camp was posted Tuesday on University School of Jackson's football Twitter account, and it shows that at least seven former Tennessee stars — including Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Ja'Wuan James, a former first-round NFL draft pick — will be involved with the camp. (What's next for the Vols? Make sure you're in the loop — take five seconds to sign up for our FREE Vols newsletternow!) Former Tennessee standouts Chad Clifton, Trey Teague, Al Wilson, Scott Wells, Kevin Mays and Antone Davis — who now serves as Tennessee's "Vol For Life" coordinator — also are scheduled to be at the camp, according to the flyer. Tennessee's elite lineman camp is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. Central time Wednesday at University School of Jackson, the home of five-star offensive tackle Trey Smith, one of the Vols' top targets in the 2017 class.
