Think about that. No Cam Sutton, Kirkland Jr, or Jalen Reeves-Maybin. That makes the second half dominance that much more enjoyable. Colton Jumper had the game of his life and earned a lot of respect from me after that performance. Would have loved to see Jalen punch it in 2 more yards for the TD to make it 45-28 but damn it feels good to get that monkey off of our back.

This team's defensive depth goes largely unnoticed, Baylon Bucannon played some good football for a true freshman as well.

However, I am very concerned about Justin Martin... what happened to him? he looked terrible yesterday.

He's been pretty bad his whole career IMO

This defense was flat out incredible in the second half. Imo Derek Barnett had the most dominant defensive performance by a VOLS player since maybe Al Wilson in the 98 Florida game. I thought the secondary was extremely solid after a very shaky start in the earlier portions of the game but this all goes back to the DL and especially Barnett. When you have a DL that can create that kind of pressure every snap, it makes the offense's life pure hell.

Major props to Big Bob Shoop as well. I have been thoroughly impressed with how he seems to figure out the other team's offense early, make adjustments and puts a vice grip on their balls. His philosophy seems to make him the anti-Jancek imo. Shoop brings that rancid dick heat all day and brings even more dick heat in big situations.

Barnett and Tuttle dominated the 2nd half. Kelly played out of his mind. Gaulden was very good. McDowell and Jumper played well. Vickers, O'Brien, and K-Mac all did well. Justin Martin is the only one who really had a bad game IMO.

And I entered a state of euphoria when Jumper blew up that screen and planted the RB, whole student section completely lost our shite. Was amazing

I have noticed over our first four games that the D line seems to improve tremendously in the second half and the later it gets in the game

Idk if it's gameplan adjustments or them just simply wearing the oline down (more likely) but it's nice to see

Crazy as it sounds Jumper played one helluva game. He'll never be DKjr but he was more than serviceable and had some bone rattling hits.

Sorry but I had to include that given how hard we've all been on him (myself included). I just hope he keeps progressing. We need him to.

PS - Is JRM out for the year now? I've heard very mixed messages. I know he wants to play and I want him to play too but he should think of his future if he's questionable -- no need to risk things

From what I understand, it was a stinger, and those can be really tricky.

They're incredibly painful.

Thanks for the info.

And yeah stingers can be a pain in the arse. You can't really fill players full of painkillers (narcotic or otherwise) either (cortisone is amazing thing when you can use one). But stingers almost always involve nerve pain and medicine still sucks when it comes treating nerve pain. About the only things that work are nerve killing surgery that risks permanent damage OR non-narc meds that make one too loopy to play.

Oh and if you ever do the whole we're all gonna die thing again without giving me a heads up. You and me are gonna meet at Sonic. Yeah, I'm still smartin' over that one. You were too damn convincing.
