Kelly is likely scaring the reds away.

Gruden won't happen (until I see something official, I believe nothing)

Stoops remains a long shot (but I've got a weird feeling about him for some reason, plus my sauce was not lying about him in Cincinnati with someone from UT)

Patterson is not worth what we would have to pay him.

Peterson is worth every penny of what we'd have to pay him, but he's not going anywhere.

The ship has sailed on Lovie Smith.

Cooter is on the NFL head coach fast track, and I don't know if he could recruit.

Florida, Auburn, and Nebraska could move on Frost very soon. I don't think we could beat UF or Nebraska in a bidding war. I think we gotta move NOW. (If Currie hasn't already inked a deal with someone else, secretly).

I would be happy with Frost. He would be my first choice after the names you mentioned in the OP.

I would be fine with Frost. Seems like he is going to be a good coach somewhere. Would probably be a better fit than many names on that list.

Here we go again. Settling for "the next big thing."

frick it. Just keep Butch. We know what we have and there is no more disappointment as we get our asses kicked week in and week out. We'll expect it.

Scott Frost is a million times better than Lyle JUG

You or I could match Butch.

Saying a coach is better than him isn't exactly a ringing endorsement.

He's also going to be an absolute star wherever he goes, with our luck Florida will fire Mac and hire him before we fire Lyle

With regard to Scott Frost, my sources have told me there is a high likelihood he is Nebraska-bound.

Lyle was not the "next big thing" when we hired him. He wasn't even on the hot commodity radar.

Dooley was not a hot commodity, he was a panic hire when everyone of substance told us no.

Frost is just slightly below where Meyer was when Florida hired him.

Most VOLS fans had to google Butch. I don't remember his name being thrown around at all. Dooley had a losing record at LTech.

Frost isn't as attached to Nebraska as people think. Out of high school he chose Stanford not Nebraska. He transferred because he couldn't play at Stanford. he could have returned to NU to coach but chose to learn to coach elsewhere. He hated Oregon recruiting because he had to travel so much just to get kids to visit. Nebraska would be 100x worse. He likes UCF because all his target recruits are within 100 miles.

Given the choice (fan bases are similar) UT's recruiting strength gets you Frost over Nebraska.

No doubt.

First question out everyone's mouth was, "Butch who?"

Lovie Smith? Christ almighty frick no

Anywho I like Frost

eta: I don't see why stoops would be at all interested and it would eliminate any explanation for his retirement

Another kink in this is that Leach and Moos are very close, so does Moos bring Leach with him to NU?

Nope! I want a coach with the ugliest wife in college football.

I want his arse to live for football. No incentive to go home at all.
