We are trying to pick a hotel to stay at for a weekend and didn't know where exactly we should stay. We want to do all the lookout mountain/klingman's dome stuff and maybe Rock City along with the Aquarium but also to be within reasonable walking distances of good places to eat and have a drink at night

I can get a free room at the Mariott downtown and assume that's where we need to be but wanted to check here before booking it

TIA

The Marriott is nice. You may also want to check out The Read House downtown.

Parking sucks, but now we have really wide(and hardly used) bicycle lanes. Hipsters everywhere. Beards, plaid, and rolled up skinny jeans as far as the eye can see. Music sceen is good and seems to be getting better. Laid back tee shirt and jeans type of town.

I would recommend the Chattanoogan. Convieniently placed downtown and close to TVA. It's where the women's Olympic Soccer team stayed anyway.
Have fun in Chatt. I would recommend a trip through St. Elmo as well.

The marriot downtown. Also when you go out to eat here are some suggestions. Taco mamacitas (Mexican)
Urban stack (Bourbon Bar)
Champy's (Fried Chicken galore)
The Terminal (Brewhouse)

Just a joke about how everyone seemed upset about the new bike lanes. I never really have that hard of a time parking downtown... I have not tried it yet, but my friends said Rodizio Grill is great. Its a Brazilian steakhouse.

I'm bumping this if anyone has any new suggestions or changes. We ended up having to cancel the trip in February but we are leaving out in the morning to stay the weekend

I hope you have a good trip here,

I do want to issue a quick warning though. Right now we are having an all time bad drought and wildfires are burning swaths of our surrounding mountains.

the fires won't have any direct affect on your visit, but in the mornings it can get pretty smokey from the fires but by 10:30ish the skies are clear and the smoke is gone.

Have a great time and enjoy the scenery!

Free room at the Mariot? Book It. Most everything in dtown chatt is either within walking distance or a quick/cheap uber ride.

Traffic was strangely bad too, even at 3 pm on a Thursday. That normal coming in on 24? Got off on to Wayuga (sp?) and rode it in, it was fine til we got around lookout mountain then in backed up a little bit

I usually stay off 24 if I can, but the heavy traffic may be influenced by the backups caused by firefighting around the mountainous areas
