Well to start, I don't see a lot of facts just a bunch of speculation

Also appears to blame him for everything that has gone wrong when he is within 50 miles of a mistake and finds ways to give other people credit when things go correctly. But let's see....

quote:

this hire, and quite honestly, it was an idiotic one. Currie, who has been athletic director at Kansas State since 2009 and was at Tennessee from 1997 to 1998 and then 2000 to 2009, has shown nothing to prove that he will be a good athletic director.

There are posts in this very thread and in this author's own article that refute the last sentence of this paragraph

2. He helped hire Pearl but also Raleigh, Peterson, and Kiffin

Sure but you could say that about anyone in the AD at that time, unfortunately we will never know who made what key decisions or who may have advocated for other coaches but shot down by higher ups. Ultimately these decisions were made by Hamilton and above

3. The running off Martin stuff has been addressed in this very thread. Was Currie perfect during that circumstance? I'm sure he wasn't but I'm also sure it was as one sided as this article depicts it. Also hurts that pretty much anyone you can find that knows him will tell you Martin is an a-hole

4. Don't give me this shite that Fulmer would be a better choice. We have NO IDEA how Fulmer would've done in this job as the man (who I love btw) has NEVER had a job remotely similar to this. Most ppl who are knowledgeable about college sports were terrified/excited about Fulmer being hired depending on whether they love/hate Tennessee. Bama fans would've paid his salary the first year probably

Now when it comes to Blackburn, I won't defend that. I think it's safe to say he would be an equal hire and probably a much better hire than Currie

5. Finally we have "low energy". Give me a fricking break is this guy trying to be trump? The program has all the energy it needs right now I will at least give Botch that, what it doesn't have is an excellent AD and hopefully, hopefully, hopefully the admin didn't frick this up

I say all this as someone who was at first very skeptical about this hire and am still very much in wait and see mode but I will not let Calhoun's shite spewing get posted unopposed. The guy fishes for clicks by putting out this kind of sensionalized bullshite he has done it before and will continue to. Not to get off into other things but this shite is a lot of what is wrong with our media

Gotta be first to say whether something will be the second coming or the biggest failure in history when sometimes (maybe a lot of times) we just have to wait and see

Pretty spot on.

Kiffin was a great hire, especially at the time. He was #1 on a lot of people's boards, and our last #1 hire. In any sport.

What went wrong was not having a buyout in place, which falls on Rat Hamilton, not Currie.

Gary Patterson went back to Texas and told his assistants, "we'll be wearing orange next year." He thought he had the job. What sunk him in the interview? He said it was this question. "How good are you at raising funds?"

Brian Kelly showed up wearing an orange tie. He wanted the job.

Kiffin snowed Mike Hamilton the FR (fund raiser) and the rest is history.

We hired another FR, not an AD.

I've been a donor and season ticket holder for 25 years. This is the first time I have ever seriously considered closing my account and walking away. I'm starting to think I'm throwing money at a lost cause.

Good shite Prof. My initial emotional hot take on this when I got the alert was to be upset and discouraged. I preferred Blackburn, but 24 hours later I feel a lot better about the guy

No prob. I feel about the same way. My initial reaction was very negative and while I still don't feel 100 percent about this I feel a bit better. I'm still not sure but never can be with the boosters we have in charge.

Not one I can link to, but I can assure you it is true.

Regardless of what you believe this is a terrible hire. This hire is on par with the Hamilton or Dooley hire.

Your Wishnitwas1998 screen name is ironic. Hires like this one and we will all be wishing it was 1998 for a long, long time.

With hires like this one. We can wish in one hand and shite in the other.

Well I agree since Hamilton also had the chance to resurrect General Neyland but let him and the Haslems own personal agendas against Dr. Frankenstein get in the way of allowing the General's body to be exhumed and then put on the mad scientist's table

By the time Hamilton was gone is was far too late as Hart, the Alabama loyalist, had too many misgivings of such an endeavor having read the book in 8th grade

Bunch of pussies all of them

I don't have a link but I assure you it is true

Got it.

You didn't see it on the Internet, so it can't be true.

Here is something else you didn't see on the Internet, but is true.

I posted this on VolTalk January 15th.
quote:

The reason the boosters want Fulmer is they can control him. Blackburn pissed off Charlie Anderson by calling him an idiot for supporting the Dooley hire.

That is why we are not getting an experienced AD that is familiar with UT. Somebody got butthurt when they were told the truth.

Davenport bypassed them all to put her man in. You think we've been fricked the last few years? You just wait.
