I feel like this board is fairly split on their perceptions of Butch, the program, and what needs to be accomplished this coming year. What're the things you're looking for this year to get back on the Butch wagon or officially want to move on. What's the record that passifies/encourages/discourages you this upcoming year?

This past year was absolutely and underachievement although I believe we were a 10-2 squad without the insane number of injuries. For me, 8-4 is the floor, assuming we're competitive that would suffice in me being optimistic for '18 given breaking in a new QB/OC/RB/and multiple position coaches in addition to a top 10ish recruiting class. Anything less and I'm done with the Butch Jones experiment and anything better will have me excited for the future. We need to show the same fight/mentality as we did in '15 without any of the drama from '16. I don't think Butch can be great on his own but if he maintains a staff like this throughout his career we could very easily have a run of the East IMO.

A run at the east at some time in his career? Even if that's meant as past, present, and/or future, I hope I'm reading that wrong, because that's a pathetic barometer. Especially with the East being about on par with CUSA these days.

My biggest gripe with Butch is that he's gotten a large portion of the fan base to buy into his complacency with mediocrity and settling. That, and his constant excuses.

At least with Dooley, we knew his time was about to end. But with Butch, he has big slice of the fan base buying into 6+ wins and bowl games being a successful season. And as long as these dip shits keep pumping money into the program, there's no reason for the higher ups to even think about making a change. And as long as there isn't a change, there's no reason to even think about winning anything meaningful.

No worries, you are reading it wrong. "Run OF the east" not "run AT the East" meaning that with this staff we should win the SECE 2 out of every 3-4 years and be in contention the times we come runner up. IE we should be the dominant force every year in the division. If he shows thats not the case then I say move on.

To be fair, he has won more than 6 games regular season games two years in a row albeit last year not winning 9 even with the injuries was a travesty

Anyways, 8-4 will be acceptable. 7-5 get the frick out. 9-3 I'm actually quite impressed

Many many people were happy with Dooley to the end. "He's the coach. He knows best."

That attitude is very hard for me to fathom. Butch is much better than Dooley. The sheep will be happy.

Well frick. I guess I needed to vent.

I still think an SECe win is out of his reach though. He's a weak minded, pussy piece of shite that folds at the slightest pressure. See below.

He had 10 reg season/sugar bowl/sec east wrapped up. Losing to Vandy year 1. Blowing Florida 2 years in a row on ****ry (10-9, 28-27), Losing to a 17 year old QB, and a Radio coached Vandy team is unacceptable. He's fricking Karl Childers even though he thinks he's Steven Hawking.

I'm ranting and tipsy, so give me some leeway. But Lyle is a pussy arse, excuse making, **** bitch that has no business coaching our University of Tennessee Volunteers. 9-3 should be our god damn lower expectation, not our zenith.

Completely agree but firing him after last year was probably a stupid idea

Nobody has learned as much as us how important it is to have a solid replacement lined up and I simply don't know who we'd have gotten especially after firing someone like Botch who from the outside looks like is doing a solid job

It is time for Butch to put up 10+ wins or get the frick out of Knoxville. That is my bar heading into year fricking 5.

Let's also not forget that butch is the first head coach since the Great Depression to have TWO L's to Vanderbilt. That should be cause for termination

Good points. Losing again to Vandy is just unacceptable.

Lol.

We're broke. Who we gunna get? We're only the most profitable football program in the SEC.

Bargain bin hires and retard fans (think typical VN fan. Not people on here) === zero results and no changes. We're making bank apparently. Why change anything.

That is a good point. Why would the administration care about winning football games as long as we are awash in cash?

Look at Bammer. In Birmingham they may love the governor, but they sure as hell want to win football games.

This 10 year skid by the Vols is as much in the failure of the senior leadeship including the governor's office as much as anything.

And Currie is their annointed.

I need to see 8-4 at minimum for 2017 and a trip to Atlanta in 2018 or it's time to start over.

I'm not of the camp that is going to throw shade at him at every turn. He's done some good things but needs to take the next step.

Lyle looked like a condemned man going to face the Media at SEC media days recently.
