I second Bearden Beer Market. I live on the other end of the state, but when I go to Knoxville, and want to chill, the beer market is the place to go. They usually have a food truck parked outside, have cornhole, adult jinga, and the washer on a string game. Definitely worth checking out.

I'm a fan of the high-gravity, knock you on your arse beers, so Suttree's is the shite. The liquor store right next to it will usually carry whatever they have on tap too, which is nice. I only wish they had more TV's because it's easily my favorite bar in Knoxville. It's just not the best place to watch any game.

Aren't they limited to low-gravity beers since they don't have a liquor license? I haven't been in a year or so.

Have you had a chance to try the Lagunitas Maximus yet? (See sig picture) -- Worth checking out if you're a high grav guy. It's not a kick you in the dick 10+ % but it's got a good flavor and comes in around 8%.

They are, but that doesn't bother me. They've got one of the biggest selections in town, on tap or on the shelves. That coupled with the beer garden and what I think is the best atmosphere in the city makes it a can't miss for me. Personally, it reminds me of Southern California in the summer time so that could be it too.

-- I like the outdoor patio over looking the main intersection of the old city. Admittedly, I don't hit that place up very often.

No doubt, I don't think i've ever brought anyone there that didn't end up leaving impressed and making a return trip.

Barleys or hops and hollers are good choices to get high grav and watch a game, which I'm sure you're fully aware of...more of a suggestion for any outsider reading this. That Founder's Centennial IPA at Barley's is

Suttree's is the balls though, and I even like their food. I am also a beer snob and hate that I am, but I rarely drink cheap, shitty domestic beer.

I actually have some in my fridge right now. It's hard to go wrong with anything Lagunitas. My fridge right now is that, Hardcore Chimera, Monkeynaut, Clown Shoes Space Cake, and some Gubna Imperial.

Hairy eyeball is a fantastic non-ipa, but it's only available like two months out of the year.

Jackpot. I've got to run to the store tomorrow or Friday and pick something up. What are your top 2 on that list? I don't recognize any of those off the top of my head.

RobertG -- Im thinking about heading down to fanatics and trying some samples and then grabbing a growler. I'll let you know how it goes

Let me know mang. Got a growler of terrapin red rye IPA last weekend at H&H...it was pretty good. Not sure where else in town you can find it though.

Probably the Chimera and Space Cake. I'll admit that I got Clown Shoes Space Cake solely because of the name (though I did look it up first to make sure it wasn't garbage). I wasn't disappointed.

Already mang. I haven't been out to H&H in a minute. I need to make my way back out there. I ended up picking up a Growler of Oscar Blues - Dave's Pale Ale tonight. Diggin it so far.

I stopped by the store tonight and ended up picking up a few things. Is this the Chimera were talking about?

That's the one. You try it yet?

Oskar Blues is a good brewery. They're the ones who make Gubna. You should give their Old Chub and Ten Fidy a shot too.

Not yet, I'm saving it for tonight. To be honest with you, I've been thinking about it all day while sitting in this little arse cubicle

I sampled the Old Chub and Ten Fidy last night and ended up liking both. Have you tried the Fascist Pig Ale by Finch's? I thought that was a solid choice too

I haven't. Only Finch's I've had is the Chimera.

You lived out West for a while didn't you? You a fan of Green Flash beers?

Yeah, originally from out west. Bounced back and forth between there and Knoxville growing up.
I think they're solid, but not my go to West Coast brewery. I'm pretty loyal to Lagunitas in that sense.

You're originally from Canada right?

Agreed, it's hard to beat Lagunitas.

I haven't had a bad beer from Oskar Blues. Also might want to check out Catawba Firewater sometime in the future. Oh, and I really like Big River Brewing (Chatt) IPA, and that one is easy to find.

You two talking about west coast beers makes me think of Deschutes Brewery and then I get a sad since it isn't available here.

They sell some in Corbin, KY (~an hour away from Knoxville): Link. Of course that means you'd have to enter the shite-hole state of Kentucky, and not much is worth doing that for.

Good looks, fam. I knew that they distributed some east of the Mississippi but had no idea that it went as far as Corbin. I might seriously make the drive just to stock up on a bunch. Their porter is easily top 3 porters I've ever had. Other beers are also excellent including the red chair nwpa.

Appreciate the recommendations

I love some craft beer, but there's very few things in this world that would entice me to drive up to Kentucky. A piece of arse from Sofia Vergara being one. A piece of arse from the British transformer actress being the other.
