Was it just me or did our defense look salty as frick last night? Those dudes brought that dog and got after it all night.

I don't recall many chunk plays either (I was drinking semi-heavily) and looked like they assignment football.

Anyone have a different take?

yeah the defense was down right savage at times last night

there were several hits to KY receivers where i was like, "damn son"

Kirkland was especially salty when he intercepted a fricking screen pass

Their o-line was way, way overmatched all night obviously.

Still too many busts in the secondary imo.

We allowed 110 more yards vs. UK than Florida did.

They played well, but kind of softened up when the game was out of reach. Let Horton go for some huge runs. It was garbage time stats, but still.

But honestly, holding a team to under 350 yards isn't bad, considering that's the best offense we'll see the rest of the year.

Most of Kentucky's yards came in garbage time, Florida didn't have the luxury of a 30 point lead

Defense looked great last night. DL abused that UK OL all night. LBs are just fast and athletic as hell. Secondary played their best game to date.

Barnett is finally playing like he should. Vereen has been a monster as of late. Kirkland will be a star at MLB for years to come. I love the prospect of Martin reaching his potential and being a physical lockdown CB for us next season.

Defense, especially the front 7, has the potential to be insanely good next season... especially if Sutton stays, which I doubt at this point.

Gaulden's return in the nickel should be huge with Martin and Moseley outside. Foreman has struggled badly all year. Still need to find another safety to play next to TK next year. Maybe Griffin.

I agree that the secondary had some issues but I saw more plays on PBUs in one game than I remember this year. Defense could be really good if the secondary gets shored up.

Kirkland is a star with a lot better closing speed than I thought. He's really played well all year considering he got baptized by fire.

I admit I didn't pay as much attention late and focused on the Oskar Blues I was hammering.

I was impressed at how well they were prepared as well. All round good effort. That's what UT has to do against bad teams.

Linked this in the rant, but if anyone missed it.

This is Derek Barnett salty and I love it.

NSFW language

Is that not cool. I think it shows the attitude this team has now.

Barnett always plays that way. Dude is capable of a personal foul at any moment, but at the same time he is a straight up badass.

Reminds me of the gif where he is swinging Connor Shaw around

I don't think it was Connor shaw, I thought it was the other QB (maybe Thompson?) I can't remember

What about Evan Beery at safety next year after he has another year of development? He was laying some wood in garbage time last night. Or is the consensus that he is just going to be a lifer kick return specialist?

He looked like he was playing a hybrid safety/linebacker position when I saw him in there. He didn't play just in garbage time either, I saw him in the first half I think or at least early 3rd QTR. Similar position to what Eric did later on, basically a cover linebacker that can frick up running backs

Watched the replay tonight on SECn and the defensive series after we went up 38-14 was just terrible. Other than that, some garbage yards late, but still happy after watching it a second time. And yes I know it was UK.

I will say that our team has looked very well prepared and executed well recently. I will give credit to Butch that his teams are pretty disciplined and are usually prepared. Hopefully they can continue to adjust in game.

UK has a decent offense all things considered. It wasn't their defense that won them games earlier in the year. Makes me think our defense has gotten better. Kirkland coming on is huge to compliment JRM who is a beast. Only weak spot now is DT with Tuttle being out and others banged up.

Anyone notice that Khalil didn't play much?
