Granted, i say this every year.... but hell this could be the one! That is the great thing about being a fan. Every year is a new chance, a fesh start, a new beginning ofsomething that could be great.

I get tired of seing so many negative post from our fanbase, and yeah i have been one of those fans myself in the past. But i finally realized being that type of fan brought nothing but misery. I have learned to enjoy each win we have individually, and sleep off the losses and move on from them the next day. I used to dwell on losses and say what could have been, or well our season is over now. But being that type of fan ruins the excitement of college football. We are only given 12 or if we are lucky a couple more games each year. Life/football seasons are too short to dwell on the negative things. Here's to a great vol season

Hope springs eternal. And that remains true this year, although I have been quieter about that to friends/family after last years debacle.

But with a little luck, fewer injuries, and improved coaching staff I think we can pull a 9-3 or 10-2 record. Win the East and beating one of UF or UGA and I think Butch pulls the fanbase back in. Oline could really set this team apart.

You'll probably have a little bit of shade thrown at you for your optimism, but I'm with you. I think this team can go 9-3 and surprise some people.

Anything less than 8 though and it's time to get rid of Jones imo.

I see a few certain holes and a ton of questions on our team. I think we should expect 8 to 10 wins depending on how good some of the teams on our schedule turnout. I am very skeptical on Georgia and Florida being good this year.

I love the downvotes

Just trying to keep my expectations in line with our past performances. We had a senior laden team last year and were a fluke play against App State and a Hail Mary at UGA from being 6-6.

7-5, IMO.

We also had a team decimated by injury and DeBord calling plays.

If we go 7-5 Butch needs to go. I don't think that happens but I also always think we're gonna be good so I'm wrong most of the time.

Debord had one of the most prolific offenses in our history...

Excuses can only go so far.

That's how most teams are. UGA was two plays from winning ten games and a few plays from losing 8. It's just the breaks.

I disagree with your assessment but I do see your point

Last years team certainly flirted with disaster

If we win the SEC are we an elite program again?

Will that shut up the peanut gallery?

If that Eason kid can get some touch on the ball UGA will be tough.

If we win it then we probably beat Bama so I would say yes.

Will it shut up the gallery? You have to know now that they will never shut up.

If you guys could have stayed healthy last season, y'all would have been in Atlanta. That's what concerns me about starting the season with Georgia Tech. Those cut blocks are legal, but they sure can ruin a guy's season. I hope ya'll kick their arse and stay healthy while ya do it

I do have hope...and that is that my expectations this year are very similar to those I had before the '98 season. That year, I thought 8-4 would be about where we would fall...possibly even 7-5. That is where I could see this season going...so, my pessimism has me optimistic.

Before the '98 season as I recall UT was ranked #11. The Athlon book had Al Wilson on the cover with the subtitle "Can the Defense Come Through?"

The Gators were supposed to have the awesome defense led by Jevon Kearse.

The hiring of Coach Fulmer tells me that the administration does care about winning football games and that is a very good thing.

Yep...but we had just lost Peyton Manning and I saw the recent passing of George Cafego as a bad omen.

ETA... Team 121 Unitiy Compared to '98 Team Following Manning's Departure

Sadly The past decade has drained all my optimism, until proven otherwise I expect a middle of the road team, Jones did his job but I don't believe he can take the next step.
