Big game for my BasketVOLS this weekend at Miss State

Preparing to treat it like a football game. Big Dick Barnes has my VOLS playing their best basketball of the year. A win Saturday would be huge.

I don't think these basketVOLS will dance, but they have certainly exceeded my expectations. I thought this team would blow before the season started.
There was such a stark difference in the two teams on the court the other night in Auburn. VOLS boxed out, hustled, and actually got in defensive stances. Auburn looked like a team of better talent, but very undisciplined.
VOLS move the ball on offense and take what the defense gives, generally taking high percentage shots. And the offensive sets they run are so simple but get good shots. The guard play has been pretty good...Bone will be a star.
It is nice seeing Bob Hubbs stepping up more. He still disappears some, but is scoring more. Still wish he would assert himself more.

Williams and Schofield have been a lot of fun to watch this year. Hoping for a sweep over MSU and these 2 goons continuing their warpath on the rest of the conference.

You better believe when the BaseVOLS make their run to Omaha it will no longer be a niche sport. That's for sure.
Better and deeper pitching. Worried about offense. Moberg is back. Year 2 of Simcox offense should have us better than last year.

I hope Simcox hitting takes off. One of my good friends played for the basevols in the early Serrano years and if they "accidentally" hit a HR in BP they had to run sprints. It was considered selfish according to Serrano and Bergeron; they literally only wanted to emphasize hitting oppo line drives or hard ground balls. The Mickey Mouse west coast small ball shite got old fast, even for the players being forced to hit in that system.

Hol. E. Shite. Don't tell me this kind of stuff. I do think he realized this and thank God Bergeron is gone.
