Post anything you read here. Nothing like a good ole Tennessee coaching search.
Tommy B just stated that the four names he is hearing the most is Brad Underwood (SF Austin), Will Wade (UTC), Rick Barnes (Texas) and Steve Prohm (Murray St).
He also said he's hearing Jamie Dixon's name thrown around quite a bit and expects Hart to reach out to him.

Isn't Barnes still at Texas? Why would he leave there to come here?

Let's get Wade and be done with it.

He just "stepped down" as head coach.
If we can't get Phil Jackson, I'd be fine with one these coaches at a mid major type program. From everything I've read, Wade seems like a good choice. Love that he is a Tennessean and good recruiter. Recruiting is paramount more so than coaching ability in college basketball, just look at Calipari's success

I'm probably in the minority but Rick Stansbury is my #1.

Stansbury was the king of winning the $hitty SEC West at 8-8, and then winning non-conference home games against the sisters of the poor. The few times they beat someone halfway decent it got way overblown. His career is full of meaningless wins and accomplishments that looks halfway decent on paper.

Rick Stansbury would be an all time bad hire.

His last and one of his only two good years as a coach was 11 years ago at this point.

Apparently there's mutual interest between us and Chris Holtmann.

Tommy B said the name he's hearing the most for Tennessee right now is Richard Pitino from Minnesota. Not really sure how I feel about that.
Posted on 3/28/15 at 8:49 pm to NorthGAVol
Better than the Rick Barnes I keep hearing.
Posted on 3/28/15 at 8:51 pm to InVolNerable
I'm cool with Rick Barnes, not sure why so many are hating on him.
Posted on 3/28/15 at 8:56 pm to NorthGAVol
Not crazy on Pitino. But we could definitely do worse.
I don't think Barnes would be a bad hire fwiw.

I'd be ok with Barnes at this point.
We could do, and have done, much worse.

That's where I am at. We have to accept our current AD Roll Tide Dave is a dope. If he hires Barnes, I'll take it. No Barnes isn't Jesus Christ Superstar, but it could be worse with Dave Hart. I'm expecting somebody much worse than Barnes though.

it could be worse
That pathetic laissez-faire attitude is exactly why they keep making the shite hires they do. Why shell out big money for a legitimate coach when the vast majority of the fan base is content with,"At least it's not the absolute worst option we could've hired."?
