It's Georgia week, and with LSU dropping Miles and Arkansas being a fraud, Florida is not guaranteed to have a loss against the West anymore. This game more important than ever now.

If UF doesn't lose any more SEC games, we have to beat UGA -and- TAMU to have the tie breaker for the East.

That is assuming you can't assume a win against Bammer.

That Florida team is not running the table the rest of their conference schedule. A win this weekend and we're one foot in Atlanta.

Not the least frustrating thing about the Gators over time is that even with the worst bunch of thugs north of the equator they always play pretty tough.

This crew on Saturday do not appear to have done that. They quit.

With limited info, it seems that Coach Mac is not the guy to get them fired up.

Eh tArk only has to be good enough to hand UF another loss. That Florida team is soft. Todd Kelly Jr. was right when he talked about stealing their souls. When we came back on them something inside them broke just like UGA broke after last season.

But yeah, let's take care of business against the Dawgs. Our pass rush finna eat, imo. And our secondary, though hurting without Cam, is more than good enough (better than OM's and OM gave them hell). Also, once Baylen was put in the lineup at CB we improved against UF. I've heard a lot of Gators and talking heads complain about UF not going deep after halftime but really we had them covered.

I think what worries me most is run stopping. (Thank God Jumper is getting better - any word on DK Jr?). We really need JRM back this game if possible. I think Sony Michel can hurt us worse than Chubb even assuming Chubb's healthy enough to play.

BUT we need to follow the same plan OM did. Get up on them early and force them to throw. Eason looked like bad Dobbs out there when he was playing from behind -- overthrows galore and constantly throwing off his back foot. In fact, I don't remember Dobbs at his worst ever having a game that sad and our defense is better than OM's.

Also... I thought East games mattered most? IOW, beat UGA and the rest of the East and how we do against the West doesn't matter. Though West records were used if all else was equal. Am I wrong about that?

Dunno for sure but just based on the KISS principle, a West loss would surely count the same as an East loss.

I recall back in '97 hearing that LSU had defeated UF and that is what put us in the SECCG.

Just looked it up. While technically it can go several steps the reality is that it will never make it past the division record level. Really, the division head to head is all that matters since there are no longer ties but per wiki they kept the other steps because games can be cancelled for various reasons (inclement weather etc.).

IOW, all we need to do is take care of business in Athens and the rest of the East.

Did it change because in 1997 we lost to UF but UF lost to LSU and UGA. That sent us to the SECCG.

Or maybe I am missing something?

Isn't it overall SEC record first then head to head?

You got that right. Georgia's O-line is more suspect than our's and I'll take our D-line any day over Georgia's. The boy's just need to keep their head in the game and understand what they need to do. Sony Michel is picking up nicely for Chubb but he can't carry the load by himself. McKenzie can hurt you but still won't be enough. Going to be a battle but if we play up to potential, the east is ours.

I don't know what to think about this game. I feel like the Vols have the advantage overall talent-wise and especially in the trenches where your DLine meets our OLine. Unfortunately for us, that could easily neutralize our running game and I can't see Eason winning it with his arm considering our receivers are dropping balls all over the field.

I see y'all winning this game on paper easily for those reasons. The only real hope I have is that somehow it's a trap game after getting the lizards off your back- although, realistically the Vols know this game is very important to get to Atlanta and you should be clearly motivated to win this one.

I guess I'll try to convince myself that we have home-field and our players don't want to get embarrassed again. Anything can happen. I guess that's why we play the games.

Thanks for letting me on the board. Y'all have a safe trip down!
