Seems this kid did not have a great senior season.

They need that spot for a better player.

Why did you take him in the first place if he isn't good enough?

Was he an in-state kid?

It's that time of the year when Butch starts culling the slaw and reeling in the 5*'s. VOLS are going to finish strong per usual.

No. He's from Leeds, AL (just east of bham).

IDK about his senior season stats, but Leeds just plowed through 4A and won back to back state championships.

I don't know. Seemed to be a questionable take from the get go. Taking some project types early as insurance and then replacing them with better, more high profile guys late in the cycle has been standard. If you don't get the elite guy at that position you still have a project/body there.

Tbh, I would actually like to keep Marshall. Tennessee has at least 3 or 4 other commits that I would rather see sent packing.

Finishing strong in recruiting, weak in the games.

It's good that Vol fans value that.

It's dirty. Kid just won 4A title Friday and was firmly committed to Tennessee.

Here's an article from a couple days ago after winning the state title... kid really had no clue what was coming.

Kinda pathetic of UT, IMO.

What do expect from a staff that consistently processes kids after their Freshman year. They go into a kids house to sell them and their parents on how they'll help develop them. Only they can't/don't, and shite can the ones after less than a year that don't have the innate natural ability to transition to the college game without good coaching. It is absolutely pathetic to do this. Most staffs give it 2-3 years but not Bitch and his other salesmen.

That sucks. At least they did it in December and not 2 days before signing day.

Tennessee has a loaded roster with developed talent. Many of which will be in the NFL in the next few years.

I wonder if this will bite them in the arse like it did with Brandon Powell.

They dropped him for Darrel Scott iirc.

Fast forward a few years and Scott is already out of the program and Brandon Powell is catching 4th down competitions and scoring TD's against them.

Poetic justice.

VOLS just pulled Chidi Okonya's scholarship as well.

VOLS making room for a monster finish it seems.

For every Powell/Scott there is a Cecil Cherry/Darrin Kirkland situation.

I think usually it will work but you're right there is a risk.

So you are proud of this? And don't kid yourself, if every SEC team took +30 recruits plus grey and blue shirts like UT they wouldn't have to worry about coaching kids either. Quantity over-rides quality because eventually 1 out of every 5 won't need coaching...at this level.

Will end up biting them in the butt, ala Houston Nutt.

Great fodder for negative recruiting.
