Out of the 4-star or above players in the state of Texas (according to 247 sports):

Ohio State: #2, #4, #6
Stanford: #3, #17
LSU: #7, #12, #32, #44
Notre Dame: #9, #43
Alabama: #11, #46
Oklahoma: #15, #16, #24, #29, #30, #35
Michigan: #18
Oklahoma State: #19, #38
Arizona State: #21
Northwestern: #36
Colorado: #47

Texas A&M: #8, #26, #31, #40, #41, #48
Texas Tech: #10
TCU: #13, #27, #28
Texas: #20, #23, #25, #34, #42, #45

Of the "undecided" players:

Marvin Wilson is not staying in state
K'laivon Chaisson is either going to LSU or Texas
Levi Jones is going to Florida State
Chevin Calloway is leaning Arkansas
Lagaryonn Carson isn't getting into a D1 school
Stephan Zabie is leaning Texas

That's around 1/3 of the top players in Texas staying in state.

Out of the top 10, only 2 are staying in state so far (1 to A&M, 1 to Texas Tech)

Just a product of every Texas team being a disaster right now.

That's the best explanation.

A&M is a shitshow with bad coaching

Texas is a shitshow with terrible administration

Texas Tech is just an all-around joke

Baylor is a title IX disaster in the making

Good for LSU but pretty sad for UT and aTm. With the top talent Texas has these players should bond together and turn those shite programs around. Have a little state pride...geez. Just my opinion...

That should tell you something about what the Texas HS coaches think of Sumlin and Herman...

LSU and Oklahoma's Texas class might be as good or better than A&M and Texas' Texas class, wow.

Texas will get better (they can't get worse under Hermann, right?)

Tech gonna Tech

TCU seems to have hit their ceiling but so long as Patterson is there they'll be decent

A&M can't get out of its own way with coaching

Baylor deserves the death penalty; not only was rampant rape happening in that program, it was actively being used and promoted for recruiting. Burn that fricker down and pour cement over the ashes

Case and point: Sumlin fired Larry Jackson, who is well-regarded in coaching circles as a strength and conditioning coach, but hasn't fired Aaron Moorehead, who is a fricking embarrassment who gets into twitter feuds with recruits.

I personally think Herman is the real deal and will have UT turned around in no time, UGA threw the longhorns a bone in Toneil Carter who I think will be pretty good.

Florida comes out a better if you remove IMG Academy. A lof of IMG Academy top prospects aren't from Florida to begin with.

The most glaring fact is that Ohio St. was able to grab 3 elite players. Those 3 guys are the cornerstone of one of their best classes is history.

I am a little surprised OU couldn't grab a top 10 player from the state, and to a lesser extent TCU.
