IMG Academy vs Bergen Catholic write up

quote:

IMG ACADEMY OFFENSE VS BERGEN CATHOLIC DEFENSE

The commentary here would be different if the change of quarterback at IMG hadn’t happened. The Ascender adding Shea Patterson late in the summer totally changed the outlook for this team as he is the best player at the position in the county. Aside from his skillset is his leadership qualities that push his total package to another level. The talent around him love the ball the gets delivered and his decision making is top-notch. If Patterson has a big game and picks apart the secondary it will be a long afternoon for the home team.

BERGEN CATHOLIC OFFENSE VS IMG ACADEMY DEFENSE

This game will start and stop on the offensive line for Bergen Catholic. If the team isn’t able to keep Jarrett Guarantano off his back and upright it won’t be able to move the ball. Assuming the unit comes through then it will be a spot where the senior quarterback can silence some critics with a big game. He won’t see a more talented defense prior to heading to the University of Tennessee and playing the in SEC and so if he is able to work the middle of the field — perhaps the lone soft spot in the IMG defense — with his tight ends and running backs it may open a few shots on the outside. Guarantano will have to be patient and then explosive to win.

EXTRA POINTS

The interesting contrast in coaching styles will be in play during this game. Coach Wright is more known to be conservative with his play calling — something that is slowly changing with IMG as the weapons are too tempting to not go wild with — while Campanile is more of a wild card. There figures to be a few roll of the dice calls for the Crusaders as it has almost become a hallmark that Campanile will onside kick, or take shots on unexpected situations. If Wright plays it too close to the vest, and Campanile can hit on a few key plays it may tip the momentum for the Crusaders.

WHAT IS THE PICK?

New Jersey has an impressive resume of big wins against out-of-state teams due in large part to its physicality and Bergen Catholic has been able to outcoach a few higher ranked teams in recent years so there are a lot of things going in the way of BC. One major thing going against the Crusaders is just the sheer volume of talent that IMG has. Bergen has opened with impressive wins against programs with big names on the front of the jersey but perhaps not as strong with names on the back of the jersey. The results could prove to have been inflated because BC has been the much more talented team in those games where it will not be in this one. Talent will win out in the end but this will be a fun game to watch. IMG Academy pulls away in the middle of the third from Bergen Catholic and win, 40-20.

IMG vs any HS team is an unfair fight. Guarantano may struggle, but I won't hold it against him.

Patterson may look like Steve Young, but he's going up against inferior competition.

Still, might be worth watching.

Bergen catholic beat a team that beat IMG.

They are on the same playing field. And Bergen is at home.

I would say the playing fields are even.

But by all means temper expectations for guarantano before the game

Sorry, I don't jerk off to HS games. But if Patterson looks like shite, I'm gonna laugh my balls off because he has 10 other guys on his offense that will end up at high level FBS schools. He has no excuse not to dominate every opponent he faces.

Is Guarantano the QB that's about to flip to UF?

Wrong, they already lost to a high school team. American Heritage dominated them with defense. They had Shae Patterson running for his life.

A very talented American Heritage. Who was beat by the very same Bergen Catholic earlier this year.

Two of our best players came from here and we lead for the defensive end who was chasing Shea Patterson around most of the night Brian Burns.

Yeah that Img line was rough the first week Shea was running for his life from the snap had to make all of his throws on the run, also American heritage defensive front is probably the most talent rich group in hs football. They are studs. You guys are in line to get a good player then.

Y'all do realize that the American Heritage vs IMG game was not an official game. It was a scrimmage.

Well it didn't count in the record book, but they both played to win the game.

Most definitely great game. Against a good D

He was in comeback mode and in a pass all day mode. And did work.

Img RB and defense, and Drake Davis special teamer put all but 21 of the img points

Guarantano is a moron if he decommits from Tennessee. The 2017 QB they got sucks Guarantano will be the starter when Dobbs leaves.
