You guys might end up getting both as a package deal.
Both are good players but there's a reason why scates hasn't got an osu offer and it has a lot to do with lessons coach Meyer learned from his tailspin at Florida.
Maybe a change of scenery would be good for him.
Thomas is a good kid and a hell of a ball player. I'd be sad to lose him

I saw Bill Kurelic mention grades with Scates, but I haven't seen anything regarding his character.

It happens. Alabama never heavily recruited a local WR in Nico Collins from Pinson, Alabama. Michigan ended up with a solid big WR.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a theme with the 2018 talent from Ohio. It's a very solid class for the state but I've seen a post from a recruiting guru saying the top players in the class might want to spend a little less time focusing on training and more time focusing on academics.
