Including this year's class, the SEC has signed the #1 overall player going all the way back until Matt Barkley in 2009. Each of the top players also signed with a different SEC team (Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Mizzou, South Carolina, and Florida)
In that same timeframe, Bama, Florida, and LSU have had a recruiting class in which they signed 3 top 10 players. No other school has accomplished that in that span.
Since 2009, 10 of the current 14 SEC schools have signed a top 10 player.
Unless Alabama signs a surprise player, the last time they did not sign a top 10 player was 2010.
However, Alabama has had the #1 class in the country since 2010 (Florida) and a top 5 class every year since 2009. They appear to have locked up another #1 class this year, too. (Despite not having a top 10 player )
Because LSU had the top class in 2009, and Florida in 2010, an SEC team has had the top class every recruiting cycle since 2009.
Any other trends y'all have seen or heard of? I have to get back to work...

Since team recruiting rankings were first developed (2002), the only teams to finish with the #1 ranked recruiting class and not appear in at least 1 national championship game over the course of the next 4 years were 2004 Miami, 2006 USC, and 2010 Florida.
That's pretty incredible.

If you recruit at an elite level you generally win at an elite level.
If you consistently finish between 15-40 I think there is very little difference. But if you consistently finish in the top 5-7 you should win unless you have a complete bonehead for a coach. Maybe not every season, but most seasons.
However, when every other school on your conference schedule also finished in the Top 30..............somebody has to lose.

Reading the OP just validates de idea that Muschamp had no idea how to put a team together. He recruited lights out for the defense, but left gaping holes in the offense.
I think Mac filled the holes in this class (except LB, which was too late, the late push for Adonis failed).
LSU has an awesome class. Here is to the rivalry
BTW Cece's cousin said that Cece was a silent to Alabama for 2 weeks, but in the end, his heart was at Florida and he signed with us. that was close.

No no still waiting on CeCe to sign with LSU.
It's a trap.
Seriously I was pulling for Florida this year because you were looking so weak.
I don't really like Florida, but I don't want any top SEC to fall that far.
Here's to rebuilding

I just want these kids to receive some coaching, specially on offense. I've seen no development, and is so depressing to see D2 schools way better coached, and incompetent looking.

Florida will be back.
No doubt.
No doubt.

Pretty sure Garrett, Noil, and Allen were #2, #6, and #8 in the 2014 class

The #1 Overall Composite Player for 2016 is also already an A&M Commit, Greg Little the monster OT out of Allen HS in Texas.
