Cry me a fricking river. We had just as many losses as LSU in 07 and they got to play for the title even though we were ranked higher before they played UT

You understand you didn't even win the East right?

USC would have mud stomped AU so the voters saved your arse.

Yea man just like they did Va Tech, Oregon State, UCLA, Cal, Stanford etc that year... They were an unstoppable force!

Are you 12, a moron, or both?

The voters picked the best 2 teams. Sorry you can't see that. USC would have dusted your arse.

You had no claim to get in over LSU in 2007 when they won the SEC and you didn't even win the eastern division

I guess Alabama had no claim on those grounds in 2011, either.

And we tied for the East in 2007 (we just don't parade the co-title around like Ole Miss)

Very possibly, and we'll never know but I'd sure take my chances.

In all seriousness I'm really not trying to flame. It's damn near impossible not to acknowledge UGA has been a major underachiever since Herschel left 30+ years ago. As a GA resident the program scares me to death because of what it has the potential to be and any given year they may finally start to realize that potential but it's not prudent to put up much of a fight trying to argue the underachiever label at this point in time.

I mean AU is probably the most inconsistent team in the country, I have no problem admitting that.

Dammit, after all that and you snuff out the flame

UPDATE: Gary is NOT visiting Auburn

Adam Friedman, midwest analyst, just interviewed him.

quote:

A large contingent of prospects from New Jersey is in the process of locking in visits to Ole Miss, Auburn and Alabama starting on July 12. As of now, that group does not include Gary.

"I don't think I'm going," he said. "That's news to me."

Gary does not have any other visits planned right now.

Yea man the team with the #1 defense in the country, 4 #1 draft picks, a future All-Pro LT, Thorpe award winner, All-Pro DT, SEC POTY, best RB combo maybe ever, fantastic special teams, who had barely been tested since September in the best conference in America was going to get dusted by a team that struggled mightily to beat Stanford, Virginia Tech, Oregon State, Cal, and UCLA. We had no chance!

Lets see

They had 6 First Team ALL Americans. A better RB Duo in Reggie Bush and Lendale WHite, A heisman trophy QB, Superstar WR's, and the Defense had Sedrick Ellis, Frostee Rucker, Clay Mathews, Mike Patterson, Lofa Tatupu, etc. 30 players from that team played in the NFL and more first round picks than lonely Auburn. That USC team was one of the best teams of our generation. That AU team struggled with quite a few teams just like USC struggled with a few teams however none of their games were really close outside of the Cal game and they beat the brakes off of several teams to include undefeated OU who was better than any team AU played all year. That OU team was legit but that USC team was phenomenal. They were head and shoulders above 04 AU and anybody with eyes could see that. You had no argument to be in the game and thats why your asses sat home.

Just speaking to the level of talent on that 04 team. Far and away the best team and proved it on the field.

He's listed as playing from 04-08. Doesn't mean he was a starter but he is listed on that team.

I don't think that means what you think it means.

Just stop, the hole is only getting deeper.

USC was an outstanding team. Auburn was an outstanding team. Barring some weird fluke it would have been a great game. Who knows who would have won?

Revisionist history based on one game is lowest common denominator level thinking. What AU did in Knoxville or to arguably Richt's best UGA team was equally impressive to what USC did to Big Game Bob. Overall, AU was more dominant against a more difficult schedule. That is a fact. Doesn't mean we would have beaten them but what happened "on the field" over the course of the season favors Auburn.

We do know if USC would have won it would have been stripped from them for cheating.

They didn't cheat, their players were playing around with agents. Doesn't change the fact that they were the 04 Champs vacated or not. I watched alot of the USC games that season because of Reggie Bush and no one can convince me that AU was a better team. USC had more All Americans and quite frankly was number 1 from start to finish in 04. It was never in doubt.

If AU was so outstanding the voters would have put them in the game. Unfortunately no one felt AU belonged in the game and after the 04 season I felt the same way. I think the best 2 teams played it also happened to be that both teams started that season 1 and 2 and finished 1 and 2 and played in the National Title game. AU 04 was a good reason for a playoff as was Georgia in 07. We didn't go undefeated but neither did LSU.
