Was waiting on this for today or tomm, but I caved in and decided since I have tomm off, to bring you the latest good news....

You can assume Belue and Dixon will count toward last years class, since they are both EE and JuCo, last years class had 21 schollys used, that moves it up to 23 leaving 2 spots left.

This years class minus those 2 is at 23 leaving 2 spots. At least 1 prospect (Casey Gladney) is in SERIOUS danger of not qualifying, he is the only one that looks like he is in danger of not making it RIGHT NOW.

So let's assume we have 4 spots at the least and 6 at most......

I am close to almost sure these 4 will end up at Bama, in order of confidence:

1. Jameis Winston
2. Cyrus Jones
3. Landon Collins
4. Eddie Goldman

In the last month and a half or so Bama's chances with each one of these prospects has skyrocketed and like I stated before, I have almost been assured that each one of these prospects will wind up in Crimson by either a coach or someone very close to the situation etc and the unbiased opinion of each one of these is that they are Bama bound.

Here is where it gets interesting, Alphonse was a TOTALLY off the wall addition, much needed mind you, but sort of upped the ante on spots. It wasn't until Alphonse was given another chance at the AL/MS all star game to play DL again and he saw the camraderie of the whole team and Bama commits, that it ultimately changed his mind. Saban knew the premium on a guy his size WANTING to play NG, and knew it would be a slam dunk for pulling in Goldman, so he reminded AT of the offer he got at Summer camp in Tuscaloosa as a Soph to play DL, and it prompted AT to almost immediately decommit from FSU and a few days later join Bama's class and fill another precious spot. This is the reason it took a while to flip the parents, it was totally off the wall for AT and the parents had built up this relationship with D. Craig (HELL of a recruiter, learned from CNS and will be a great OC one day, if AU was smart they would hire him now JMHO). Nevertheless eventually his parents gave him their blessing and he joined the class.

The prospect to watch in all of this is Jordan Jenkins, I am hearing all kind of ground is being made up by Richt and his staff, is it enough to sway him to stay in state? Some seem to think so. If he does commit to Bama, expect at least 1 greyshirt (obvious target is Gladney) or if he totally misses out all together that gives Bama an extra spot.

Merry Christmas to all

I question your confidence on Landon Collins, because I don't think either side can be sure he's theirs right now. Getting those 4 would be insane.

Merry Christmas

I understand the confidence in Collins and know why but he'll be at LSU. Regardless you're the best Bama recruiting info guy around these message boards and deserve all the props in the world. Merry Christmas.

Last year Bama signed 22 on NSD including Aaron Douglas and added Duron Carter late making 23. Bama also had 2 grayshirts, Carswell and Wilson Love, hold-overs from 2010.

By my count we will only get 2 EEs for 2011, the Douglas slot and the Carswell slot.

We have signed 24. We only have 3 slots open, unless someone does not qualify or has agreed to a grayshirt. If my numbers are wrong, please explain the correct numbers.

I would take Winston, Jones, and Goldman and not want anything else. Collins I will have to see to believe. As much as I would like to have him it is very hard to pull the top guy from LSU if they really want him. Those three plus either Collins or Jenkins would be awesome.

I agree with your assessment and would add that Justin Taylor may be a gray shirt and there are winds blowing of at least 3 transfers leaving, which changes the numbers game a bit. Merry Christmas to all.

It is certainly possible that Duron Carter is not on scholarship but that would be surprising. I know Chris Carter could afford to pay his way but I think that is unlikely. If so that would add an additional EE slot for 2011.

I know that Carswell and Michael Bowman have been suspended but haven't heard anything else. Wasn't Bowman in the 2010 class? If so that would impact the 85 but would not affect the 2011 class. Have you heard of other transfers? We will have to suffer some attrition in order to sign this many LOIs.

I have heard people talk like you can add additional EEs if you lose players to the NFL draft. That should only reduce your athletes counting against the 85, but would not add to your class of 25 or allow you additional EEs.

Understand JD that this was MY best attempt to break down the spots we have left....Bowman isn't going anywhere FOR NOW, that might change but he is at Bama for now. Carswell was a greyshirt and since he will likely be a casualty, would not count toward a scholly. The numbers will work out somehow likely with a few greyshirts, looks like 5 now with Jenkins, who will be picking Bama on Jan 9th.
