The number two rated JuCo for 2017. Hopefully he works out better than Baldwin. But Alabama has had success with JuCo linemen in the past.

Troxell looks like he could go either way. May depend on his relationship with Cristobal and if he's still around after this season. Think Randolph is headed to Alabama.

Don't think this will affect Troxell, he isn't going to play the two years Baker is on campus anyway.

Exactly, Troxell needs to add some weight to his gangling frame. He'll be back to square 1 when he loses that bad weight he put on from his knee injury.

Steve Wiltfong on Baker:

quote:

Alabama committed as good an offensive tackle as one will find in the 2017 class on Monday evening in Elliot Baker.

Taking it up a notch, the Crimson Tide may not sign a better prospect in the country than the 6-foot-7 295-pound Baker, when talking JUCO, prep school or recruits coming out of high school.

Ranked by 247Sports as the No. 1 player in America by 247Sports regardless of position, his verbal gives Alabama the No. 1 JUCO prospect and the No. 1 high school prospect as the City College of San Francisco recruit joins five-star running back Najee Harris. Speaking of Harris, former NFL cornerback Ray Mickens told 247Sports on Monday at the Sound Mind Sound Body Football Academy in Houston that Harris wowed him at the Oakland Nike Football The Opening Regional where he worked with the defensive backs. Mickens was in disbelief regarding the skill set Harris already has and Mickens has obviously come across a good player or two in his day.

Back to Baker, commit No. 10 for Alabama, this verbal saw the Crimson Tide jump to No. 3 in the 247Sports Recruiting Rankings as Nick Saban and his staff aim to finish No. 1 for a seventh-straight year.

When turning on Baker’s film the first thing one notices is this player runs like a tight end. A prototypical left tackle with a tremendous frame, long arms, strength, great balance, plays with good leverage, Baker can absolutely run, making him a force as a run blocker. He can shoot to the second level, he can pull and with his explosiveness and good feet he just drives defensive linemen down field.

Baker will look to help City College of San Francisco win a second-straight National Championship this fall before enrolling early in Tuscaloosa where he will have three years to play two.

The Crimson Tide are on track to sign perhaps the nation’s best offensive line class. With Baker and five-star Alex Leatherwood in the boat, Alabama is also the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite for the nation’s No. 1 offensive tackle per 247Sports in Wyatt Davis, they’re battling Auburn for the No. 1 player in the state in Top247 offensive tackle Austin Troxell and blue-chippers like Jedrick Wills, Walker Little and Kendall Randolph are also on the board.

Great pick up, just a few weeks back he had UGA as his leader. The dawgs will land 4 star OT D'Antne Demery next week over Bama so I guess that evens things out a bit.

Troxell is between 325 and 330 right now. Wants to drop some weight and get to about 310 (was rather inactive after his knee surgery). The only reason he'd go somewhere other than Bama would be depth chart concerns.

No mention of Trey Smith ? I assume the Bama coaches are still high on him and he's up there on the board as well ?

If Troxell commits, I'm pretty sure we shut it down for OT recruiting. Sounds like we're recruiting Wyatt Davis as an OG.
