It isn't too outlandish. Some guys out there think Monk (Gary Parrish especially) is going to be an absolute superstar in the NBA.

It isn't as crazy as comparing Simmons to Lebron James

The crazy thing is he played better than his stats would indicate. He's an unbelievable talent.

Are you insinuating Ben Simmons' talent level is comparable to Lebron in his first 5 years in the league?

Arkansas fans are getting excited about a player that isn't even going to play for Arkansas. Y'all gonna cheer for him when he goes to Kentucky?

Since I clearly know everything there is to know about Malik Monk, I'm gonna predict he's gonna get exposed as being an average volume shooter inflating his perception by playing nothing but shite competition just like another Malik that plays in the SEC currently. He'll struggle in the All Star games and that'll be the precursor to his averageness.

Yes.

We are witnessing what Lebron would have looked like, should he have been forced to go to college.

Simmons is a FORCE.

Lebron averaged 21/6/5/2 his first year in the NBA. I agree that Simmons is like Lebron in that he can fill up a stat line, but it doesn't appear that he's quite the scorer Lebron would have been in college, had he played college ball. Simmons, merely three games in, is averaging 19/13/5/2 while playing schools like McNeese, rather than the Lakers.

While I understand your sentiment you do realize that college ball is different than the NBA, no?

1) the game is shorter
2) the rotations are bigger
3) less fouls equals less minutes on court

Lastly, do you know what Michael Jordan, the GOAT averaged in college?
I stand by my statement and the fact that national analysts are thinking along the same lines.

ETA: In case you are lazy, Michael Jordan averaged 17.7 ppg, and 5.0 rebounds.

In the NBA, Simmons will not be in the scorer that Lebron is. There is no evidence whatsoever for thinking that he can average 27/game in the NBA.

This reminds me of when I told people that Fournette was great, but they should quit saying he was as good as a legend like Bo Jackson. I warned people that he is human if you can get a body on him early. I received about a million down votes. I don't know why people have to compare fantastic college players to all-time legends so early. It's silly.

Interesting that you are trying to make my arguments for me, because nowhere did I say he would be the scorer that Lebron is.

However, did Jordan show you that he could be the NBA leading scorer year after year averaging 17 points a game in college?

How about the fact that Jay Bilas (who has an opinion I would trust more than both of ours put together) makes direct comparisons between Simmons and Lebron?

If you extrapolate his stats for the length of an NBA game they are even more impressive.

to complain about the essence of college sports.
It's about development and projection of their professional careers.

There were people who said Lebron had too much hype too early, same with Anthony Davis, KD, and John Wall.

Seems like a really unfun way to watch sports, but to each his own.

Dude has made 2 fricking jump shots in 3 games. Can we pump the breaks a bit?

And it was perfectly reasonable. He was the consensus best player in class since he was like 12. Simmons isn't even the #1 prospect according to different services.
